The long-standing esports organization grows its Hearthstone roster to six players, signing Worlds quarter finalist Jeffrey “Tarei” Liu.
Previously on the practice group known as “Team MagicAmy”, Tarei was a known ladder player but only had his competitive breakthrough during the Blizzcon NA qualifiers last year. In the final qualifier chapter before the world finals, Tarei aced his group, beating Keaton “Chakki” Gil and Daniel “Dtwo” Ikuta as well as Drew “TidesofTime” Biessener in the quarter finals to punch his ticket to Blizzcon. On Anaheim ground, Tarei once again made it out of the groups, finishing behind Kaor and ahead of RenierHour and Lvxiaobu before losing in the quarter finals to eventual runner-up Xieyu “TiddlerCelestial” Wang.
With Team MagicAmy now disbanded as most of their players went on to other organizations, Tarei took the more serious offer from ROOT Gaming. Run by StarCraft player and streamer Paulo “Catz” Vizcarra, the organization hosted players like Amaz, Sjow, Xixo and Eggy in its earlier Hearthstone days and is currently the home of SeatStory runner-up Sebastian “Ostkaka” Engwall. ROOT recently started aggressively signing players to the HS division, picking up Neviilz, Nomodogan and Hotform in April and Tarei now becomes their sixth player.
