The first day of Gfinity Spring Masters II saw one of tournament’s favorites get ousted. The event is to resume today at 12:00 CET.

Despite experiencing a few technical hiccups, the opening day of Gfinity Masters eventually got under way with some of the matches in Group A and D. And just like in the previous edition, the upsets were not late to arrive.

Fans saw tournament favorite Jon “Orange” Westberg out of the tournament. The Swede just recently added a second major offline title to his achievement shelf, winning SeatStory Cup III just one month after he returned triumphant from the $30,000 ESL Katowice, but he didn’t have the same luck in London yesterday.

Orange was placed in a three-man group with fellow countryman Harald “Powder” Gimre and Dutch player Liam “ibdutchboy” Brouwer. Being awarded a walkover in the opening match, Orange needed just one more win to advance to the playoffs, but both Powder and Ibdutchboy were successful against him.

Several more high profile players are about to make their stand in the Gfinity Arena, including Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy, Dima “Rdu” Radu, James “Firebat” Kostesich and more. Today’s games should wrap up the group stage before the best eight move on to the playoffs on Sunday.
