Fatigue damage kicks monk out of SSC

The games at SeatStory Cup are becoming more and more epic with the game between teammates monk and Trump ending in fatigue damage. After six games the series ended going through an epic battle and throughout all 30 cards.

One of the most epic games in this SeatStory Cup just ended with monk drawing the last card of his deck and then dying one turn later due to fatigue. This is the first time in the history of the Hearthstone tournament at this new event, that a game came down to the fatigue game in the grueling battle between the two teammates.

Overall the series was full of surprises and interesting matches, as both players showcased a Rogue deck with interesting cards like [card]Captain Greenskin[/card], [card]King Mukla[/card] or [card]Edwin VanCleef[/card]. The Rogue of Trump actually eliminated the Shaman and the control Warrior of the LiquidValue captain. Once it was [card]Ragnaros the Firelord[/card] finishing off his opponent, the other time it was the overwhelming board of a [card]Cold Blood[/card]ed [card]Nat Pagle[/card], a [card]Cairne Bloodhoof[/card] and an [card]SI:7 Agent[/card] to deal the lethal damage.

Monk then countered with his own variation of the Rogue deck, which Trump later revealed was one of the inspiration for the successful Rogue deck of the Mayor of Value town. The end of this intense mirror match was actually quite intriguing, as Trump went for a high risk, high reward play, leaving just five damage on the board with six life left. With that he had a possible lethal next turn, gambling that the hand of monk and the top deck wouldn't bring that one damage. Unfortunately for the popular streamer [card]Blade Flurry[/card] ruined that great play and brought the two combatants closer together in the score.

Trump reacted and brought his Druid out to play, trying to win the contest with the relentless claws of Malfurion. Monk kept the game even throughout the first couple of turns, keeping a [card]Nat Pagle[/card] out for more than five turns to give him enough cards to handle almost every single difficult situation. Tricky part though was the insane life loss that he had to take to control the board in this fashion, leaving him vulnerable to a back-to-back [card]Cairne Bloodhoof[/card] into [card]Ragnaros the Firelord[/card]. The Rogue deck was out of answers at that point and a giant fireball of the Molten Core end boss finished off Valeera.

So monk was down to his last deck, the often used and interesting Token Druid. In the mirror he was able to pull ahead very quickly with a [card]Violet Teacher[/card] surviving the entire game from Turn 3 until the last little life drop of Trump. A timely [card]Bloodmage Thalnos[/card] into [card]Swipe[/card], a dominating board and the [card]Leeroy Jenkins[/card] for the finish kept monk alive and brought him within two wins of actually going to the top four of the tournament.

That dream was crushed only moments later, after the fatiguing battle in which Thrall commanded by Trump kept the upper hand. The fight was intense throughout the entire turns with the board control changing numerous times, but the opponent always finding the perfect answer to keep the game even. Monk outdrew his opponent, but couldn't generate enough value out of them, winding up with a good board, but little life points. The fact that the game ended in fatigue was deserving of the grueling battle of two team mates.

Trump stays in the race for the Hearthstone SeatStory Cup title with this, meeting Artosis in the next round to slug it out for the right to be in the top three. Loser goes home, winner faces either StrifeCro or Gnimsh for the ticket to the Grand Finals.
