FX is keeping plenty under wraps as its Far Cry adaptation continues to build out its first season.
More big names are joining the already star-studded cast of the Far Cry TV series at FX. According to a report by Variety, Oscar nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for The Hateful Eight, and Brendan Gleeson (Spider-Noir, The Banshees of Inisherin) are the latest actors joining the upcoming adaptation.
Who are the cast members of the Far Cry TV series?
Alongside Leigh and Gleeson, the newly announced cast includes Hamish Linklater (Batman: Caped Crusader, The Whisper Man), Sam Spruell (Game of Thrones: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), and Jamie Demetriou (Only Murders in the Building).
They will all appear during the first season of the series, alongside lead and co-creator Rob Mac and previously announced cast members Lizzy Caplan and Steve Buscemi.
Far Cry TV series plot, cast, and production details
The Far Cry TV series was first announced in November 2025, with FX Networks, a subsidiary of Disney, officially teaming up with publisher Ubisoft.
The plot has not yet been revealed, although it was previously confirmed that the series will follow an anthology format, like the Far Cry games. Each season will feature a different cast and setting. A release date has not yet been announced.
FX Productions is producing the series, which will air on FX and Hulu, as well as Disney+ internationally. Mac will executive produce through More Better Productions, while co-creator Noah Hawley will executive produce through 26 Keys under his overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television.
Simon Emanuel and Emilia Serrano of 26 Keys, 3 Arts' Nick Frenkel, Monica Macer, Peter Calloway, and John Campisi are also executive producing. Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill will executive produce for Ubisoft Film & Television.
Far Cry is Ubisoft's long-running first-person shooter series, which debuted in 2004 and has since taken players across a range of open-world settings. Most mainline entries introduce a new location, protagonist, and antagonist, which also fits with the TV adaptation's planned anthology format.
The latest mainline entry, Far Cry 6, launched in October 2021 and took players to the fictional Caribbean island of Yara. It follows guerrilla fighter Dani Rojas as they join a rebellion against dictator Antón Castillo, played by Giancarlo Esposito. Far Cry 6 received mixed or average reviews on Metacritic, with the PS5 version sitting at a 73 Metascore.
An extraction shooter based on the Far Cry series was also reportedly cancelled in July, with Ubisoft said to be developing a new open-world FPS codenamed Kodiak alongside its next mainline Far Cry game.
