What is Hearthstone: Reign of the Black Empire?
Hearthstone’s next expansion is called Reign of the Black Empire, taking players back in time to a setting tens of thousands of years before current events. The game is using this narrative-heavy expansion as an excuse to flesh out its lore and overhaul the Journal, which will now be the source of the game’s story vignettes.
The game is also adding new cards and a new keyword called Assemble, the latter of which allows players to merge the text of two different minions, along with a 2v2 game mode. Additionally, a new minion type called Aberrations is also in the works. Reign of the Black Empire will launch on 20 October, 2027.
Additionally, the Monk is also arriving as an all-new card class in 2027, marking the game’s first new class addition in a few years. The class hails from World of Warcraft, as well.
