The ancient dynasties are finally stirring, with a new cinematic offering the first glimpse at one of Dawn of War IV's most iconic factions.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV has unveiled a new cinematic trailer showcasing the Necrons, giving fans their first dedicated look at one of the game's playable factions ahead of its launch this September.
Rather than focusing on gameplay, the latest trailer dives into the ancient race's return to Kronus, introducing the Necrons' ambitions and the forces they will bring to the battlefield when the long-awaited RTS arrives later this year.

Who are the Necrons in Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War IV?
According to the Warhammer Community website, the new trailer introduces Thothmek, an ancient Chronomancer who commands a vast Necron fleet and intends to reclaim Kronus for the deathless dynasties. Once the Necrons' world, Kronus has since fallen into the hands of other factions, but the immortal empire has finally awakened to take it back.
As the Warhammer Community explains, "The Necrons are preparing to reclaim the world of Kronus from the lesser species," with Thothmek determined to retake the planet regardless of "how many Space Marines, Orks, and Skitarii they have to blast through first."
The cinematic also establishes the wider stakes for the faction. Having awoken after 60 million years of slumber, the Necrons are marching once again in a bid to restore their ancient galactic empire and reclaim what they believe is rightfully theirs.
Which Necron units are in Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War IV?
Warhammer Community also confirmed that several of the faction's most recognisable units will appear in Dawn of War IV. Players can command ranks of Necron Warriors and Deathmarks, supported by the imposing Monolith and even a C'tan Shard of the Void Dragon.
Although the latest reveal is entirely cinematic, fans have responded positively to the trailer's presentation, with many YouTube viewers calling it the strongest faction introduction shown for the game so far. King Art Games has yet to reveal when gameplay featuring the Necrons will be shown.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV launches for PC on 17 September, 2026. Players who purchase the Premium Edition will be able to begin playing a few days early, while the game is already available to wishlist on Steam.
