Wuthering Waves teams up with Resident Evil and five other titles for anniversary event

Six major titles are crossing over into Wuthering Waves for its second anniversary celebration.

Nobody quite expected Kuro Games’ Wuthering Waves to bring Resident Evil characters into the game, alongside five other major titles in one massive collaboration programme, but no one seems to be complaining.

As part of its two-year anniversary celebration and the Version 3.3 update, Wuthering Waves is rolling out one of its biggest content drops yet. In a themed event entitled Crossworld Sync, six major franchises are teaming up with WuWa to deliver themed bike liveries, allowing players to ride across Solaris-3 in style.

The first phase of the collaboration event will feature Kaiju No. 8, Angry Birds, and Resident Evil, each bringing recognisable characters into Wuthering Waves as cosmetic bike designs. This will later be followed by a second phase introducing three more major names: Pragmata, Riders Republic, and Haikyu!!

What is in the Wuthering Waves collaboration update?

Popular action-fantasy manga Kaiju No. 8 will contribute two of its best-known characters: Kafka Hibino in his kaiju form, alongside Soshiro Hoshina.

Meanwhile, the mobile gaming phenomenon Angry Birds, which became a global sensation during the rise of touchscreen gaming, will make a surprising appearance with Red, Chuck, and Bomb featured on bike skins.

Resident Evil is undoubtedly the most anticipated collaboration so far, at least judging by fan engagement following its reveal, which has far outpaced the others. Capcom’s iconic survival horror franchise, which recently launched the hit Resident Evil Requiem, will bring Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong to WuWa’s bike liveries.

The second phase of the update will also include Capcom’s upcoming title Pragmata, another game that has generated strong interest. Its sci-fi protagonist, the android girl Diana, will appear as a cosmetic design.

Ubisoft’s extreme sports title Riders Republic feels like a natural fit for the crossover, adding biker-themed artwork directly onto in-game bikes.

Rounding out the event is the popular volleyball anime Haikyu!!, which will see fan-favourite characters Hinata Shoyo and Kageyama Tobio arrive in Wuthering Waves cosmetics.

While Kuro Games has yet to confirm whether these items will be free rewards or paid cosmetics, many players believe they could be obtainable at no cost during the anniversary event. Others are also hoping the collaborations go beyond stickers and liveries, potentially including themed soundtracks, or even playable crossover characters in the future.

Wuthering Waves also has a highly-anticipated Cyberpunk collaboration announced coming this year, which has seen leaks of the series' popular characters entering WuWa as playable Resonators.
