Ubisoft has reportedly postponed the Black Flag remaster announcement to next week.
Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, one of the most successful entries in the expansive franchise, is getting a remaster set for 9 July, 2026, Insider Gaming reports.
Ubisoft was ostensibly supposed to make Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced official yesterday, but postponed the announcement until next week. Media and content creators were reportedly given a first look at the remake in a 30-minute presentation.
While Insider Gaming is withholding spoilers of what was shown, the publication is positive about the remake, and confirmed that it will have new content and updates. Ubisoft also emphasised that AC Black Flag Resynced will not be an RPG, and will remain a “single-player, character-driven experience”.
Prior to the reveal, rumours had already pointed to an upcoming Black Flag remaster, as the game was spotted in the European PEGI ratings board listing last December.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

What is Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag about?
Among the 13 mainline standalone Assassin’s Creed games, the sixth entry entitled Black Flag, released in 2013, stands out for its unique pirate combat, which takes you to the early 1700s during the Golden Age of Piracy.
You assume the role of a Welsh pirate, Edward Kenway, who is the grandfather of Assassin’s Creed III’s protagonist, Connor. The story draws you into a conflict between the Assassins and the Templars, who are both seeking a mysterious place called the Observatory, which essentially allows you to spy on anyone in the world.
What AC games have Ubisoft remastered before?
Ubisoft has remastered several titles from the franchise, including AC II, Brotherhood, and Revelation–all bundled into the Ezio Collection in 2016. The company also published remasters for AC Rogue and AC III in 2018, plus AC Liberation in 2019.
A Black Flag remaster has been anticipated for a while and fans are excited to know that it’s arriving just months away from now. The edition is regarded not only as one of the best entries in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, but also as one of the best video games in general. Ubisoft will likely release a gameplay trailer for Black Flag Resynced, along with more details, in the anticipated announcement next week.
