Black Cat joins Marvel Rivals Season 7.5 as a Duelist with new PvE mode, MCU Avengers mode, and more

Lots of new content is coming in Marvel Rivals Season 7.5.

NetEase Games has officially confirmed all the new content coming in Marvel Rivals’ upcoming Season 7.5 update. The update adds Black Cat as a new Duelist hero, along with two new game modes for the upcoming 7.5 season: an asymmetrical Avengers game mode, and an all-new Blood Hunt PvE mode. The Hellfire Gala is also returning, bringing brand-new skins to the game.

Lost and confused? Don’t worry, we’ll go through these changes one by one, starting with the new hero.

How to play Black Cat in Marvel Rivals Season 7.5

Marvel Rivals Season 7 is entering its second half, and you know what that means: a new playable character is joining the fray. This time, it’s Black Cat, voiced by Erica Lindbeck, who reprises her role from Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man DLC. Black Cat will be the game’s 49th hero overall following White Fox, and her kit is pretty unique on the roster.

Black Cat’s kit focuses on mobility and enemy flanks, using her claws to slash at the enemy for quick bursts of damage. She can climb walls and double-jump, making her rather slippery on the battlefield. Her kit revolves around her Grappling Hook, which allows her to steal coin-like Fortune from enemies. With enough Fortune, she can buff up her claw attacks or trade Fortune with the Gilded Saint and unlock new hero abilities.

These abilities include invisibility, the ability to reveal all enemies in an area, portal creation, crowd control cleanses, and more. This is a pretty hefty kit for a Duelist character, and it’s going to take some time to learn how to use her right. In the right hands, however, Black Cat could be a pretty mighty foe on the battlefield.

What is Marvel Rivals’ PvE Blood Hunt mode?

Marvel Rivals Season 7.5 is also adding a brand-new PvE mode called Blood Hunt, which NetEase notes is arriving in-game sooner than expected. The mode spins out of the current Season 7 storyline, with Spider-Man’s jailbreak having inadvertently freed a fearsome supernatural foe: Dracula. Armed with a Norn Stone, the vampire king is now free to wreak havoc on the city.

The new Blood Hunt mode will land one week after launch on 23 April, 2026. Much like Marvel Zombies, it will include boss battles (four in total), a character progression and trait system, and an all-new loot system.

Is the Hellfire Gala returning to Marvel Rivals in Season 7.5?

NetEase is bringing the Hellfire Gala back to Marvel Rivals this season, with new skins for Magik, Moon Knight, Gambit, and Phoenix. Emma Frost will also finally get her community-voted “Gala Star” skin at long last, and it will be free for all players to claim after playing a specific number of matches.

Another community vote will be held for the next free Hellfire Gala costume, as well.

The Avengers: Path to Doomsday mode release date in Marvel Rivals Season 7.5

As promised, Marvel Rivals is officially adding the first of many upcoming Avengers-themed crossover modes this month, starting with an Avengers (2012)-themed mode. This will be an asymmetrical multiplayer mode, where members of the original MCU Avengers team will fight against a singular Loki.

Additionally, the Times Square map is set to feature a few events centred around the Path to Doomsday event. The mode will launch on 30 April, 2026.
