New Overwatch hero Sierra set to arrive on 14 April, abilities revealed in gameplay trailer

“Bless your heart.”

Just a day after releasing an animated trailer for its upcoming new hero, Sierra, Blizzard Entertainment has dropped more details for her abilities and release date, confirmed for 14 April. She will be the game’s 51st hero and the sixth new addition of the year, arriving alongside Season 2.

The trailer features nearly two minutes of combat, highlighting her pink-themed gear in action, including her automatic Helix Rifle and her drone, Dorothy. Blizzard then followed up with a post which provided more detailed description of the new hero abilities and perks.

What are Sierra’s abilities in Overwatch?

Sierra wields a large Helix Rifle, which fires in a spiral pattern that becomes more accurate with sustained fire. Her passive ability allows her to reveal enemies whose health falls below half.

The first of her ability kit, “Tracking Shot” allows Sierra to mark an enemy target and lock her weapon onto them. Dorothy comes in next, as Sierra can use “Anchor Drone” to deploy the drone to a position in the air and use it to grapple over obstacles such as Mei’s Ice Wall, as shown in the trailer. Her third special ability, “Tremor Charge” lets her throw a Shredder grenade, which takes down enemies with a shockwave. Finally, her ultimate ability called “Trailblazer” once again utilises Dorothy, which flies to a targeted area to drop a barrage of bombs on enemies.

Blizzard also outlined her Minor and Major perks. At Level 2, Sierra can increase her drone’s flight and grapple range by 25%, improving mobility. She also receives upgrades to her Helix Rifle, allowing for faster tightening of bullet spread and slower widening. At Level 3, her drone can carry a health pack to heal her when needed, and her firing speed can be increased against locked-on targets.

Sierra’s arrival is just around the corner, with developers confirming 14 April as her release date. She is the sixth hero to join Overwatch in its 2026 relaunch, which is set to introduce four more heroes as part of a broader rebrand. She follows the arrival of Emre, Domina, Mizuki, Anran, and the Jetpack Cat.

Season 2 of Overwatch continues the Reign of Talon story with a new Battle Pass theme, hero skins, and Sierra’s debut. Fans are also anticipating Anran’s redesign and further competitive updates.
