Marvel Rivals teases playable White Fox and Black Cat, launching in Season 7

Recent hints point to two new heroes coming to Marvel Rivals Season 7.

It looks like the rumours were true: NetEase Games is now teasing Black Cat and White Fox as Marvel Rivals Season 7’s new playable heroes. Both heroes were previously hinted at via Season 6 in-game artwork, but this week, NetEase Games confirmed at an in-person event that “a master thief and secret agent” would appear in Season 7.

Black Cat just so happens to be a master thief, and White Fox just so happens to be a secret agent. Coincidence? We think not.

NetEase Games’ vague Marvel Rivals Season 7 teases have fans convinced Black Cat and White Fox are coming

Each season of Marvel Rivals typically introduces a clue hinting at the next season’s two playable heroes. Season 6 was no different, introducing Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone while hinting at the next season’s two heroes via in-game art in the battle pass. Towards the end of the battle pass, players are able to unlock comic art featuring Deadpool and several “monsters,” the most conspicuous of which are a black cat and white fox.

Marvel Comics just so happens to have two characters quite literally named Black Cat and White Fox, with the former already having been teased via a silhouette visible in the Times Square map. Fans of the game have connected these dots to assume that these two heroes are coming in Season 7.

This week, however, NetEase Games pushed its vague hints for the Season 7 heroes even further–even if it didn’t outright name them. At a Rivals Assemble held in the El Capitan Theatre, Hollywood today, the developer outlined more content coming to Marvel Rivals in 2026. This content includes new heroes, maps, PvE modes, systems, costumes, and more.

Crucially, NetEase confirmed that in Season 7, players will see “a master thief and secret agent, collide in New York for an impossible mission.” That once again points towards Black Cat and White Fox joining the playable roster in Season 7

Who are Black Cat and White Fox in Marvel Comics?

You might be wondering: who are Black Cat and White Fox? While the former has made mainstream appearances in games like Marvel’s Spider-Man (and its accompanying expansions) and other media, the latter is decidedly more obscure. We’ll start with Black Cat, AKA Felicia Hardy. This anti-hero, and oftentimes thieving criminal, is most often paired with Peter Parker/Spider-Man, as the duo started out having an adversarial relationship.

Eventually, Felicia and Peter started an on-again, off-again relationship, before the two became platonic allies. Felicia was ultimately more interested in Spider-Man than Peter Parker, which led to the two parting ways romantically, but remaining allies. Felicia isn’t often depicted with powers in her appearance across Marvel properties, but she has been known to exhibit a “bad luck”-type ability that inflicts those around her with misfortune.

White Fox, AKA Ami Han, is a South Korean superhero who belongs to the Kumiho, a species of shapeshifters who can turn into nine-tailed foxes. She has appeared only in Marvel Comics and the 2015 Netmarble mobile game Marvel: Future Fight, thus far. She was first introduced as a member of a South Korean intelligence agency, the National Intelligence Service, but she later joined the Tiger Division.

Tiger Division is a South Korean government-sanctioned superhero team, counnting another member of the Marvel Rivals roster among its ranks: Luna Snow. It’s unclear, but likely, if Luna Snow and White Fox share a similar background in the Marvel Rivals universe.

Thus, Black Cat and White Fox safely fall into the boxes of “master thief and secret agent” which NetEase has now laid out to hint at Marvel Rivals Season 7’s new heroes. It’s not an outright confirmation, but it does bring us as close as we’re going to get until their inevitable reveal trailers are released.

Marvel Rivals Season 7 launches on 20 March, 2026. You can read more about the game’s newly-revealed Avengers: Doomsday event here.
