Over the weekend, HoYoverse announced that Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.8 would be extended to run over the course of eight weeks in total. That marks quite a lengthy extension, given that the game's patches typically run for just over a month long, causing a significant delay to the game’s highly-anticipated Version 4.0 update in 2026.
This week, the developer formally apologised for Version 4.0’s big delay with a few in-game freebies and teases for future content. These teases included confirmation for the game’s next new planet, Planarcadia, and a few upcoming character silhouettes. As for the freebies, all players can now log into Honkai: Star Rail to collect Stellar Jade ×1,000 and Fuel ×10 from their in-game mail.

Honkai: Star Rail 4.0 formally delayed, new planet Planarcadia unveiled
HoYoverse has officially confirmed the next upcoming world coming to Honkai: Star Rail: Planarcadia. In an official post, the developer shed light on the upcoming region with some lore text:
“The threat of Destruction compelled the cosmos to unite once again, and everyone now looks toward other Aeons involved. The Express once crashed into and departed from "Planarcadia." There, Aha graced the pursuers of Elation with a reward: join THEIR game and become an "Aeon" for a minute.”
The post was accompanied by a few preview images, which seem to hint at the upcoming world being an amusement park of sorts. However, the developer was careful to add that these images are from an in-development version of the upcoming patch, and only “the launch version” should be regarded “as final.”
HoYoverse also included an image teasing silhouettes of upcoming Version 4.0 characters. These playable characters will likely factor into story content revolving around the upcoming Planarcadia region. While the identities of these characters have not been confirmed, fans seem confident that a new version of Sparkle can be spotted among them, at the very least.
Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.8 “Memories are the Prelude to Dreams” will be released on 16 December, 2025. The patch will run for eight weeks, before Version 4.0 arrives with the new world of Planarcadia.
