The End Times are nigh, and Nagash himself arrives to bring undeath to the world of Total War: Warhammer III.
Total War: Warhammer III developer Creative Assembly has revealed the “Lords of the End Times” will be the game's next DLC, just in time for its upcoming 10-year anniversary. The Lords of the End Times will bring four new Legendary Lords to the game–led by none other than the great necromancer Nagash himself–as well as new units, lore-inspired objectives, and sandbox campaigns in Summer 2026.
Creative Assembly revealed the Lords of the End Times during the Total War series' 25th anniversary showcase, where the developer also announced that the long-awaited Total War: Medieval III is already in development and that another new title will be unveiled during The Game Awards 2025 on 11 December.
The Lords of the End Times, as its name suggests, will bring Total War: Warhammer III to the End Times, the cataclysmic event that served as the ending for the Warhammer Fantasy Battles tabletop setting and eventually gave rise to its successor in Warhammer Age of Sigmar. But while Warhammer III's next DLC will move the narrative towards the End Times, Creative Assembly assured players that this won't be the game's final DLC.
What's coming in Lords of the End Times?
The Lords of the End Times DLC will feature four new Legendary Lords from different races, with the great necromancer Nagash headlining the list of upcoming new characters. As the creator of the foul art of necromancy and the lord of all the undead, Nagash is a threat that rivals even the unending hordes of Chaos. Nagash will be joined by a new Blood Dragon Legendary Hero, Walach Harkon, as well as new units like the Tomb Heralds, Morghast Archai, the Khemric Titan and more.
Creative Assembly did not reveal the three other Legendary Lords coming in the Lords of the End Times DLC, however, though Neferata–the first of the Vampires and queen of the ruined city of Lahmia–can be seen in the announce trailer. It remains to be seen if Neferate will be released as one of the four Legendary Lords in the new DLC, given that Creative Assembly said they will be coming from different races, or will be added to the game as a standalone DLC.
Aside from the new Legendary Lords, the Lords of the End Times will also arrive alongside the free End Times update, a transformative new addition to the Immortal Empires campaign inspired by pivotal chapters from the lore of Warhammer Fantasy. Players can expect a revamped campaign experience; including cataclysmic events, apocalyptic scenarios, and all new campaign customisation options.
Creative Assembly added that, “to crown this update, a new Legendary Lord will rise, ready to leave their mark on the cataclysm to come.” The developer has also released a trailer showcasing how the End Times will affect the map:
Creative Assembly also said that what they've revealed of the Lords of the End Times DLC so far only represents their “current vision” for the game's next major update.
“We’re in the early stages of developing our End Times content. What we’ve shared represents our current vision, but it may evolve as development continues - as always with the goal of delivering the best possible experience for all of you,” said Creative Assembly.
