Cyrene is built to support her fellow Chrysos Heirs, but which ones can use her the most?
Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.7 is finally here, and with it comes the thrilling conclusion to the Amphoreus storyline as well as the final Chrysos Heir: Cyrene. Cyrene wields the Ice element and follows the Path of Remembrance, boasting powerful support abilities that grant unique buffs to her fellow Chrysos Heirs.
If you wanna know more about Cyrene's kit, we recommend watching the “Keeping Up With Star Rail” episode dedicated to her for a more or less thorough breakdown.
While we would have liked to get into the nitty-gritty of Cyrene's kit here, this article would've been far too long if we had done that (Cyrene's kit is by far the longest in the entire game with over 1,600 words). Instead, we are going to focus on Cyrene's best Chrysos Heir teammates– including how valuable of a pull she is if you already have the other Chrysos Heirs–as well as her go-to Light Cone and relic picks.
Cyrene's best teammates
Cyrene is built to be run alongside her fellow Chrysos Heirs due to the unique buffs she grants each one of them with her ultimate, with some being one-time effects wihile others are effective throughout the entire battle. With that said, some Chrysos Heirs have better synergy with Cyrene compared to others. So, we prepared a handy table below that lists each buff Cyrene grants to each Chrysos Heir as well as her pull value for that specific character.
Note: ███ refers to Cyrene's Memosprite, which is herself. The game hides this fact in her kit for some reason.
Chrysos Heir | Cyrene buff | Pull value |
|---|---|---|
Phainon | Effective for the entire battle. After it is used on Phainon, Phainon gains 6 "Coreflames" as well as "Eternal Ignition" when Transforming. When Transforming, if "Coreflame" exceeds 12, for each point in excess, Khaslana's CRIT DMG increases by 12%, up to 72%. While "Eternal Ignition" persists, increases Khaslana's CRIT Rate by 16%. After the extra turns are depleted, the Transformation does not end, but refreshes all of Khaslana's extra turns and gains 4 point(s) of "Scourge." At the start of Khaslana's extra turns, Khaslana consumes an amount of HP equal to 15% of his current HP. After using an attack, deals 5 instances of Additional DMG, with each instance dealing Fire Additional DMG equal to 10% of Khaslana's ATK to one random enemy. | LOW |
Tribbie | Effective for the entire battle. When used on Tribbie, causes DMG dealt by Tribbie to ignore 12% of the enemy's DEF. When Tribbie launches Follow-up ATK and triggers the Additional DMG from Tribbie's Zone, it further deals 1 instance(s) of Additional DMG. | LOW-MED |
Aglaea | One-time effect. When used on Aglaea, causes Aglaea to gain "Romantic" and immediately stacks Garmentmaker's Memosprite Talent's SPD Boost effect to its max. After Aglaea or Garmentmaker uses an attack, consumes "Romantic" and regenerates 70 Energy. Increases DMG dealt by Aglaea and Garmentmaker by 72%, and ignores 36% of the target's DEF, lasting until Aglaea exits the "Supreme Stance" state. | MED |
Mydei | One-time effect. When used on Mydei, removes all Crowd Control debuffs inflicted on him. And if Mydei is in the "Vendetta" state, he automatically uses 1 instance of "Godslayer Be God" without consuming Charge. Mydei's CRIT DMG increases by 200% during this attack. If the target gets defeated before the use, then it will target the newly arriving enemy targets instead. If Mydei is not in the "Vendetta" state, then advances Mydei's action by 100%. | HIGH |
Castorice | Effective for the entire battle. When used on Castorice, "Newbud" can overflow up to 200%. When summoning Netherwing, consumes all overflowed "Newbud," increases the DMG multiplier of the DMG dealt by 0.24% for every 1% of overflow value consumed when the summoned Netherwing triggers the ability effect of its Talent, "Wings Sweep the Ruins." If there are 2 enemy target(s) on the field or fewer when summoned, the DMG multiplier additionally increases by 0.48% when summoning. | HIGH |
Anaxa | One-time effect. When used on Anaxa, recovers 1 Skill Point(s) for allies and allows Anaxa to take action immediately. Increases the number of Skill DMG instances by 3 for 1 turn. The next time Anaxa uses his Basic ATK or Skill, he gains "True Knowledge": Increases the ATK of all Erudition Path characters by 60% and Skill DMG dealt by 40% until the start of Anaxa's next turn. | HIGH |
Hyacine | When ███ uses Memosprite Skill, causes Hyacine to gain 2 stacks of "Ode to Sky." When used on Hyacine, regenerates 24 Energy for Hyacine. When Hyacine has "Ode to Sky" and is providing healing, additionally increases the healing value for Little Ica's Memosprite Skill by an amount equal to 72% of the healing value this time. After Hyacine uses Skill/Ultimate, consumes 1 stack of “Ode to Sky.” | LOW-MED |
Cipher | Effective for the entire battle. When used on Cipher, increases the DMG dealt by Cipher by 36%, and decreases the DEF of the "Patron" by 20% and the DEF of enemy targets other than "Patron" by 12%. | LOW-MED |
Hysilens | One-time effect. When used on Hysilens, Hysilens gains "Flowing Warmth." After Hysilens uses an attack, consumes "Flowing Warmth" and regenerates 60 Energy for this unit. In this battle, increases DMG dealt by Hysilens by 120%. After Hysilens uses Basic ATK/Skill to attack enemies, causes the DoT currently applied on the attacked enemy targets to immediately produce DMG equal to 60%/80% of the original DMG. | LOW |
Cerydra | Effective for the entire battle. After using on Cerydra, increases the CRIT DMG of the character with "Military Merit" by 30%. After Coup de Main ends, Cerydra immediately gains 1 point(s) of Charge. | LOW-MED |
Evernight | Effective for the entire battle. After it is used on Evernight, increases DMG dealt when Evey uses the Memosprite Skill "Dream, Dissolving, as Dew" by 18%. After Evernight uses a Skill/Ultimate, additionally gains 1 "Memoria" point(s). The CRIT DMG boost effect provided by the Skill is further increased by an amount equal to 12% of Evernight's CRIT DMG. | HIGH |
Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae | When ███ uses Memosprite Skill, grants "Ode to Earth" to Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae, and the next 3 attack(s) of "Souldragon" deals Additional DMG of the "Bondmate's" Type, equal to 80% of the "Bondmate's" Shield Effect. When Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae holds "Ode to Earth," the "Bondmate" deals 24% more DMG. When used on Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae, additionally advances Souldragon's action by 100%. The Souldragon's next action gains the enhance effects of Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae's Ultimate and the Shield Effect provided by Souldragon is 150% of its original Shield value. Does not consume the enhancement Charge of Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae's Ultimate. | LOW |
Remembrance Trailblazer | Effective for the entire battle. When used on Trailblazer (Remembrance), increases Trailblazer (Remembrance)'s ATK by a value equal to 16% of ███'s Max HP, and increases Trailblazer (Remembrance)'s CRIT Rate by a value equal to 72% of ███'s CRIT Rate. This effect also applies to Mem. After Trailblazer (Remembrance) uses Enhanced Basic ATK in this battle, ███ immediately gains 1 extra turn and automatically uses "Minuet of Blooms and Plumes." If the target was defeated before this ability is used, it will be used on newly appeared enemy targets instead. | MED-HIGH |
Due to the fact that she's primarily geared towards being a support character, Cyrene offers the best pull value for most DPS Chrysos Heir characters.
Among them, Castorice and Evernight have by far the best synergy with Cyrene. Castorice and Evernight can both be ran as the sole DPS character in their own teams, but they are best ran in a dual DPS composition with Cyrene and Hyacine as the two supports in an all-Chrysos Heir lineup. The Castorice-Evernight-Cyrene-Hyacine team is notably one of the strongest teams in the game, with each member's kit greatly synergizing with the others.
Cyrene also offers great pull value for Mydei and Anaxa as either an upgrade, or a side-grade, to their existing supports. As for Aglaea, Cyrene is a side-grade at best, as the vaunted Robin-Sunday support duo are still the best picks for her. Running Cyrene alongside Hysilens lets the latter detonate her own DoTs, but it's nowhere near an adequate replacement for Kafka as the DoT team's detonator.
We don't recommend replacing Black Swan with Cyrene either, so you're better off running Cyrene as the fourth member in a sustain-less DoT lineup with Kafka, Hysilens, and Black Swan. But even then, other supports like Ruan Mei, Robin, or even an actual sustain, are superior options.
And for Phainon mains looking to run him alongside Cyrene for a thematic pairing, we're sad to say that their synergy isn't looking that great. While it is cool to have Phainon remain in his ultimate state permanently, you do lose out on strong buffs that you would normally get if he has his typical rotation, alongside his dedicated Harmony supports.
Meanwhile, the more support-oriented Chrysos Heirs–namely Tribbie, Hyacine, Cipher, Cerydra, and Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae–don't really need you to pull Cyrene for them to shine. Instead, you'd want to pull Cyrene in order to round out and further strengthen the existing Chrysos Heir teams that feature those supports, like the Castorice-Evernight-Hyacine-Cyrene team. With that said, the likes of Tribbie and Cipher work best as supports for non-Chrysos Heir DPS characters, so there isn't much value pulling for Cyrene in such cases.
Finally, Remembrance Trailblazer enjoyers can find good value in pulling for Cyrene, by basically freeing up the Remembrance Trailblazer for use in other teams. For example, you can run Cyrene in the Castorice-Evernight-Hyacine-Cyrene team and have Remembrance Trailblazer support someone like Aglaea or Anaxa instead. Or if you're one of those players that want to turn the Remembrance Trailblazer from a support into a DPS character, then Cyrene can help you do just that.
Cyrene's best Light Cones
As with every 5-star character in the game, Cyrene's best Light Cone is, of course, her signature: This Love, Forever. This Light Cone passively increases Cyrene's Speed by 18% while also letting her gain the “Blank” and “Verse” buffs when using her memosprite skills on allies and enemies respectively.
Blank is activated when Cyrene uses her Memosprite skill on an ally and increases the DMG taken by all enemies by 10%. Meanwhile, Verse increases the Crit DMG of all allies by 16%. Finally, having both the Blank and Verse buffs active increases their respective effects by 60%. That's a permanent 70% increase on the DMG taken by all enemies, as well as a 76% Crit DMG buff for allies, though only after Cyrene has fully ramped up and used her ultimate multiple times. While Cyrene's signature Light Cone is definitely strong, it is by no means a requirement for her to shine.
If you don't plan on getting Cyrene's signature Light Cone, then go for Memory's Curtain Never Falls, which can be acquired and Superimposed for free through the Simulated Universe's Herta Store. At max Superimposition, this Light Cone increases Cyrene's Speed by 12%, and increases the DMG of all allies by 16% for 3 turns after she uses her skill.
Choosing a Light Cone for Cyrene should be an easy decision. Do you have the Stellar Jade to go for her signature? If you do, then go get it. If you don't, then just get the F2P Light Cone. No fuss.
Cyrene's best relics
Cyrene wants as much Speed as possible (at least 180, ideally 200) so for her Cavern of Corrosion relics, you should go for a mixed 2-piece set from any two of the following three sets: Messenger Traversing Hackerspace, Sacerdos' Lived Ordeal, and Warrior Goddess of Sun and Thunder. All three of those sets grant their wearer a 6% Speed buff with their 2-piece bonus, so having two of them gives Cyrene a 12% Speed buff–which will go a long way towards reaching her very high Speed requirements.
If you're running a Castorice-Evernight-Cyrene-Hyacine team, you can also consider going for the 4-piece World-Remaking Deliverer set. It buffs Cyrene's Crit Rate and lets her grant the entire team Max HP and DMG buffs after she uses her basic attack or skill, and if her Memosprite is on the field (so only after Cyrene uses her ultimate for the first time), with the Max HP and DMG buff only lasting until the next time Cyrene uses her basic attack and skill.
While more Max HP and DMG for the entire team is always nice, you're losing out on some much-needed Speed on Cyrene if you're going for this set. Not only that, but Max HP and DMG buffs are already pretty diluted in a Castorice-Evernight-Cyrene-Hyacine team anyway, so we'd still recommend going for the mixed 2-piece Speed sets we mentioned above.
And since Cyrene does make frequent use of her ultimate (but with a much slower ramp-up for her first usage, don't forget), the 4-piece Eagle of Twilight Line is technically a viable pick for her. However, only use this if you're running a highly-optimised setup built for zero-cycling endgame content. Otherwise, the mixed 2-piece Speed sets are still the superior options.
As for Cyrene's Planar Ornament relics, your best bet will be the Sprightly Vonwacq set. While she can't make use of this set's Energy Regeneration Rate buff, the 40% action advance at the start of battle it grants greatly mitigates the biggest weakness in Cyrene's kit: her painfully slow ramp-up. Sure, this set doesn't do anything after Cyrene's first turn, but the sooner you get to her first ultimate, the better.
For the main stats on Cyrene's relics, go for the following:
- Body: HP%/Crit DMG%
- Feet: Speed
- Planar Sphere: HP%/Ice DMG Boost
- Link Rope: HP%
Substat priority: Speed >>> HP% > Crit Rate/DMG
Your stat goals for Cyrene should be:
- At least 180 Speed, but 200 Speed is ideal
- At least 4000 HP, over 5000 is ideal
- At least 50% Crit Rate, as much Crit DMG as possible
