Level Infinite signs deal to publish Stellar Blade developer's next game Project Spirits

A fresh cross platform adventure is on the horizon.

Level Infinite, known for PUBG: Mobile, Path of Exile and Dune: Awakening, and Shift Up, the studio behind Stellar Blade, have confirmed a global partnership for Project Spirits, a new cross-platform title now in development. The announcement was made on Wednesday 26 November 2025, marking the second major collaboration between the two teams following the worldwide success of Goddess of Victory: Nikke.

Project Spirits is being developed for PC, consoles, and mobile platforms on Unreal Engine 5, with work carried out jointly by Shift Up and Tencent affiliate Yongxing Interactive. The game first surfaced in June 2025, when Shift Up published early key art and a brief description, calling it “a subcultural cross platform title that promotes Eastern Fantasy as Shift Up’s new flagship project.”

What Project Spirits is expected to offer players

Not much is known about the project so far, but in a report published in June 2025, a recruitment page offered a clearer picture of its direction. The translated listing described an Eastern fantasy world influenced by subculture themes, with “subculture” referring to Otaku culture. It outlined a console-style 3D RPG centred on open world exploration, sword combat and martial arts action. The studio also sought applicants who enjoy titles such as Genshin Impact, Ming Dynasty Warriors, Zenless Zone Zero and Ghost of Yotei, hinting at the inspirations shaping its gameplay and tone.

The listing suggested a live service structure with character dependent combat, sustainable meta design, balance systems and a steady flow of new content. These details point toward mechanics familiar to fans of gacha driven RPGs.

The key art itself sparked debate after fans questioned whether parts of the visual might be AI generated or AI assisted. Others noted similarities to Shift Up’s earlier work on Destiny Child, arguing it may simply reflect the studio’s long standing aesthetic. With no confirmation from the developer, the discussion remains unresolved.

Further updates on Project Spirits are expected, as Level Infinite and Shift Up move toward a fuller reveal, and fans will be watching closely as the project builds on the lessons and momentum of the studios’ previous titles.
