Players will have a new reason to return to Ezo soon.
Ghost of Yōtei players will soon have a fresh reason to return to Ezo, as Sucker Punch Productions prepares to roll out a free update on 24 November. The studio confirmed the details earlier today, according to an announcement made on the PlayStation Blog on 19 November.
The patch introduces New Game Plus, a long-requested option that lets players restart Atsu’s quest for vengeance while keeping everything they earned the first time around. From armour upgrades to fully unlocked abilities, returning players will begin their next journey far better equipped for the dangers ahead.
New Game Plus becomes available once the main story is complete. The mode adds harder difficulty tiers and two additional Trophies to chase, creating a more demanding path for those who want a tougher challenge. Players will also encounter an entirely new resource called Ghost Flowers. These can be traded with a new vendor for over thirty fresh cosmetics, from armour sets to weapon dyes, as well as ten new charms. Existing gear will not be left behind either, as the update adds an extra level of upgrades for armour and weapons.
Update brings wider improvements across the base game
Beyond the headline addition, the patch includes a wide range of new quality-of-life features for the base game. Once players finish the main story, they will gain the ability to replay content during the post-game, giving them more freedom to revisit key moments and encounters. A new stats display is being added as well, offering clearer insight into Atsu’s performance and progression.
Accessibility is also receiving welcome attention. The update introduces new options such as directional button remapping, aimed at making the controls more adaptable. Meanwhile, the game’s popular Photo Mode is expanding with new tools including shutter speed adjustment, a composition grid, and additional filters. These features should give creators more flexibility when capturing the scenic vistas and dramatic combat moments that have defined the game’s early popularity.
The team at Sucker Punch closed out the announcement by thanking players for their support since launch, noting their excitement to see what the community produces with the upgraded Photo Mode. With New Game Plus landing just in time for the holiday season, Ghost of Yōtei looks set to keep players busy well into the new year, as anticipation builds for Ghost of Yōtei Legends in 2026.
