Splatoon Raiders spin-off and big Splatoon 3 update announced for Nintendo Switch 2

Splatoon 3 is getting a big new Version 10.0 update.

Nintendo has officially announced an upcoming spin-off of the Splatoon third-person shooter game franchise: Splatoon Raiders. Splatoon Raiders will focus on the Deep Cut trio, who set out to explore the mysterious Spirhalite Islands. The Deep Cut trio are radio host presenters and occasional bandits from Splatoon 3, a game which is also set to get a huge update soon.

Nintendo officially announces Splatoon Raiders spin-off for Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo proved this week that it might be worth downloading its new Nintendo Today mobile app, where the company routinely shares new information about its upcoming games and projects. The company released a video via the app (now available on YouTube) confirming the existence of Splatoon Raiders, an upcoming spin-off in the Splatoon series.

According to the video, players will explore the “mysterious Spirhalite Islands alongside the splat-tacular Deep Cut trio,” the latter of whom make a return in this game from Splatoon 3. The three Deep Cut members are known as game announcers and occasional pirates in-game, and host a radio show together.

Besides that, there’s good news for fans of the mainline Splatoon series: a Version 10.0.0 update is now in the works for Splatoon 3. This is a big and chunky update, adding 30 new weapon kits, the Urchin Underpass, new quality-of-life additions, badges, and more to the game.

Nintendo Switch 2 owners will also see a boost in in-game visuals and frame rate as part of an update on 12 June, 2025–though they will still be able to play against Nintendo Switch users as well. Splatoon 3 now joins the ranks of multiple Nintendo Switch games to get performance boosts on the Nintendo Switch 2, but this time, the upgrade won’t cost players a thing.
