LGD Gaming Malaysia have emerged as the champions of the Honor of Kings Invitational Season 2, after besting Team Secret in the grand finals. They will also take home the biggest share of this tournament’s $300,000 prize pool.

LGD Gaming Malaysia advance to the Esports World Cup

LGD Gaming Malaysia emerged victorious from Honor of Kings Invitational Season 2’s grand finals, where the team defeated Team Secret and took home the biggest cut of the $300,000 prize pool. The team powered through a best-of-five showdown, which didn’t seem to be going in its favour at first. The team suffered a 0-2 loss to begin the finals, before making a grand comeback with three consecutive wins against Team Secret.

The Honor of Kings Invitational Season 2 has become the latest entry in the game’s Global Invitational Series esports circuit. The circuit also includes the Honor of Kings Open Series, which focuses on giving up-and-comers a chance to go professional. Registration for the Open Series Split 2 is open until July 19, after which the regional finals are planned to take place in September.

The Invitational Season 2 took place in Sunway Velocity with the partnership of the Esports World Cup, which happens to be where LGD Gaming Malaysia are headed next. The event’s Honor of Kings Invitational Midseason will see this team, and seven other high-ranking teams from the Invitational Season 2, compete for a whopping $3 million prize pool. 12 international teams will compete in the event in total, with two qualifying slots going to Team Falcons and Weibo Gaming Malaysia.

The final slot in the Invitational Midseason will be decided by the winner of the Honor of Kings Southeast Asia Showdown, which will see Boom Esports and Rex Regum Qeon go head-to-head.
