Nova Esports won the Malaysia Honor of Kings League (MKL) Spring 2025 after defeating Black Shrew Esports in the grand finals. Wang "Wendy" Jinwen and his teammates defeated the regular season champion in an Ultimate Battle to win the series with a 4-3 scoreline. Their victory over Black Shrew Esports meant that they will represent Malaysia in the Honor of Kings World Cup 2025 as the top seed.
While they failed to be the regular season champions, Nova Esports secured the second seed and advanced to the upper bracket semifinals. In the Playoffs, Nova Esports had a relatively smooth path to the grand finals, defeating AG Global 3-2 in the upper bracket semifinals and dismantling Black Shrew Esports in the upper bracket finals. Black Shrew Esports then earned a rematch with Nova Esports in the grand finals after defeating AG Global in the lower bracket finals.
It was a back-and-forth action sequence in the grand finals, as both Nova Esports and Black Shrew Esports traded wins to eventually reach a 3-3 tie after six games. This meant the champion would be decided in the Ultimate Battle, where both teams picked Dharma, Arli, and Mai Shiranui. However, Black Shrew Esports took Pei and Zhang Fei, while Nova Esports grabbed Agudo and Dyadya. In the end, it was a victory for Nova Esports after a close 19-minute game.
As the champion of the MKL Spring 2025, Nova Esports have secured a ticket to the Honor of Kings World Cup 2025, hosted as part of the Esports World Cup 2025 in Saudi Arabia. Black Shrew Esports and AG Global will accompany Nova Esports in the Honor of Kings World Cup 2025.
