PREMIER SERIES 1 stand-in situation sees ATF and Malr1ne step in
The ongoing PREMIER SERIES 1 tournament has seen an interesting twist. Eastern European team Yellow Submarine initially registered an entirely new roster for this event, including Batyuk in the offlane. However,
Team Spirit later announced Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov’s personal break, which led the team to bring in Batyuk as a stand-in, despite him having already played for Yellow Submarine on the tournament’s opening day.
This, in turn, led Yellow Submarine to secure a stand-in of their own, with the prominent ATF stepping in. ATF played a series with Yellow Submarine on 4 April, securing a 2–0 victory against
Zero Tenacity, and currently leading Group A of the Play-In stage.
Over at Virtus.pro, Malr1ne has made a subtle entrance, with organisers announcing him as a stand-in for Abed in the midlane, although no reason was specified. His opening match went well, as Virtus.pro secured a clean sweep against Power Rangers, placing the team at the top of Group B.
Fans are already eager to see the two close friends and teammates face each other from opposite sides in the next round, should they both qualify for the Playoffs.
What is PREMIER SERIES 1?
PREMIER SERIES 1 is an online Tier 2 event with a US$100,000 prize pool, running from 1–11 April. The event features a strong mix of teams, with dark horses such as
Nigma Galaxy,
GamerLegion, and others competing in the Play-In round, while elite names like
Team Liquid,
PARIVISION, and
Heroic have received direct invitations to the Playoffs.
While the event may not carry the same weight as other tournaments on the professional calendar, it is likely to serve as a testing ground for teams to experiment with the new patch and warm up ahead of the higher-stakes PGL Wallachia Season 8, set to begin on 16 April.
