Not a good start for OG in 2025.
After middling performances all throughout 2024, iconic Dota 2 organisation OG continue to struggle to start 2025 after bombing out of the DreamLeague Season 25 Western European qualifier on Friday (January 10). OG lost all four games they played in the qualifier, culminating in an embarrassing 2-32 rout in game two of their lower bracket round 1 match to
Jigglin, a newly-formed team led by veteran offlaner
Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Ivanov.
OG struggle in DreamLeague S25 qualifier
The new year marked a fresh start for many teams and OG was no exception. OG had undergone significant roster changes following the conclusion of The International (TI) 2024, which the team notably failed to qualify for – the second time that the two-time TI-winning organisation failed to reach Dota 2's annual world championship tournament since its founding in 2015.
In the past two months, OG welcomed Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon,
Leon “Nine” Kirilin, and
Jian Wei “xNova-” Yap to their lineup, with long-time member
Sébastien “Ceb” Debs also rejoining the active roster as a stand-in. Despite the star power in their roster, OG has continued to deliver lackluster results.
In the opening round of the Western Europe qualifier, OG faced Natus Vincere Junior. The series ended in a swift 0-2 loss for OG, sending them to the lower bracket.
Their lower-bracket matchup pitted them against Jigglin, a new team in the region featuring notable players such as MinD_ContRoL and Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos. Jigglin, who earned their spot through Open Qualifier #2, delivered another decisive 2-0 defeat to OG, eliminating them from the competition.
Jigglin now advances to the next round, where they will face Gaimin Gladiators. As of now,
AVULUS and
Tundra Esports have secured the first two slots for Western Europe in DreamLeague Season 25. One slot remains up for grabs in the lower bracket of the qualifier.
2025 has started on a rough note for OG, but the team has more opportunities to redeem themselves. Their next challenge will be the PGL Wallachia Season 3 Western Europe qualifier, which begins on January 12.
