ESL One Berlin Major playoff bracket set

Six teams failed the new patch test in the group stage of ESL One Berlin Major and suffered an early elimination from the second Major of the year.

For three of the eliminated teams in Berlin, this is the second Major in a row where they fail to make it into the playoffs and new patch issue or not, the Berlin major might sound the alarm signal as the season is getting closer to TI time.

Group A

Much like at Lima Major, three months ago, Execration and TSM have been seeded in the same group and made an early exit with an underwhelming performance. They both fell short in Group A, along with BetBoom Team, who are the third team to replicate the Lima Major poor performance.

This time around, BetBoom Team came to the Major with Roman "Resolut1on" Fomynok standing in the offlane and Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko going back to the carry position.

Group A's final results came after a three-way tiebreaker round that decided not only BetBoom’s elimination but also which two teams from this group will start the playoffs from the lower bracket.

Team Aster managed to get two wins in the bo1 tiebreaker to secure themselves a spot in the playoffs. Evil Geniuses were the ones to deliver the finishing blow to BetBoom in a breathtaking bo1 battle that nearly left SA Dota with no representative in the playoffs.

Group B

Invictus Gaming, who finally managed to return to a major after nearly three years of struggles and a trip to Division II, didn’t grab a single clean 2-0 victory in their group and were first to be eliminated with a 0-3-5 overall score. Team SMG, who also made it for the first time at the major fell short in Group, along with beastcoast.

ESL One Berlin Major playoffs

To no one’s surprise, Gaimin Gladiators and Tundra Esports emerged as the top teams in their respective groups. OG, have once again defied the odds and secured an upper bracket seed despite coming to Berlin with two stand-ins and Team Liquid managed to solve a few patch issues through their very last games in the groups to ensure that all 4 WEU teams are in the upper bracket.

There is no break between groups and playoffs; the next stage starts on May 1 with all four quarterfinals series being played.

May 1 schedule:

11:00 CEST Gaimin GladiatorsvsTeam Spirit
14:35 CEST OGvsTeam Liquid
18:05 CEST 9 PandasvsShopify Rebellion
21:40 CEST Tundra EsportsvsPSG.LGD
