Team Liquid completes The International 2022 line-up

Team Liquid delivered a quick and clean 2-0 victory over Virtus.pro in the Last Chance Qualifiers lower bracket finals to become the 20th and final team to secure a spot at The International 2022.

After a DPC season with mixed results that threw them into the Last Chance Qualifiers for The International 2022 (TI11), Team Liquid found their stride and started to sprint through the last two days of the competition in Singapore. Once they got knocked down in the lower bracket by Virtus.pro, Liquid went on delivering the fastest victories in the LCQ and got to take full revenge on Virtus.pro in the decisive series counting for a spot at the most important tournament of the year.

While Liquid had to survive a couple of more elimination rounds than their final adversaries, VP landed in the lower bracket finals earlier today when Team Secret took them down 2-0.

Coming into the final match of the LCQ, Virtus.pro looked to match Liquid’s fast paced drafts from the past few days with a mid lane Primal Beast and the push power between a carry Razor and a position 4 Tiny. However, they got outmanoeuvred around the map with superior vision coming from the Liquid side. The WEU team was also superior in team fights and had control and great chase capability between their Disruptor and Clockwerk supports.

Team Liquid utilized the same concept in the second game as well, but trading with VP Clockwerk for Tusk and once again imposed a fast tempo game with a Luna carry. By the 10 minutes mark they were already mounting a considerable gold lead, which forced VP’s mid lane Morphling to opt for a Midas Hand first item. But, by taking that route, VP were forced to dodge the fights even more and wait for their Morph to come online. However, that never happened under the constant pressure exerted by Liquid and their TI dream ended there.

With all the 20 teams attending The International 2022 decided, the group stage matches are set to begin on the 15th of October. The exact schedule and the groups draw are to be announced soon, so stay tuned!
