Entity claim WEU qualifier slot to TI11 with a brutal 3-0 over Team Secret

Team Secret’s rollercoaster road to The International 2022 (TI11) leads them to the Last Chance Qualifiers held early next month in Singapore.

Western Europe regional qualifiers for TI11 were plagued by server lag and resulted in plenty of crushed dreams. None of the three big names, Team Secret, Team Liquid and Nigma Galaxy, managed to live up to the expectations and claim the one slot available into the TI11 group stage, as Entity messed with everyone's plans and made a clean, undefeated run through the upper bracket matches.

Entity made their way into the WEU qualifiers grand finals with clean 2-0 executions over Alliance, Team Secret and Team Liquid and were patiently waiting to see who of all these teams will bounce back from the lower bracket rounds. After a whole server conundrum, postponed games and matches held with packet loss, Team Secret emerged as survivors of the lower bracket blood bath, but they were not even close to taking revenge over Entity.

EntityvsTeam Secret

Entity opened the grand finals with a draft meant to swarm Secret extremely fast. They had an offlane Undying paired with Chen, Invoker and Morphling and crushed the laning stage, especially in the offlane, shutting down Secret’s potential split push with Nature’s Prophet and forcing an early 22 minute GG call.

They ran almost an identical draft in game two, though the Undying was taken out of the hero pool in the first banning phase by Team Secret. Entity switched Chen to position 3 and paired it with an Omniknight, looking for the same lane dominance effect. Team Secret seemed to have allowed Entity to have the same picks thinking that they can counter their game plan with a powerful team fight combo and a Naga Siren carry. But they quickly came to the realization that the Naga was completely ineffective, if anything she was actually helping Entity’s swarm tactics as Ivan "Pure" Moskalenko on Morphling proved to be a better Naga Siren with his 22 minute Aghanim's Scepter.

Team Secret had the first pick in the third and final game of the series and took Chen and Invoker for themselves, forcing Entity to bring something else to the table. But while their heroes changed, the concept remained the same: hit hard and hit fast. Entity went for a different kind of push with Jakiro in the support lines, a core Death Prophet, a mid Visage and a carry Shadow Fiend who set himself up for a great game with early laning stage kills.

Pure’s SF became quickly unstoppable and Team Secret, although managing to delay the inevitable for 43 minutes, they had no real way to mount a comeback.

With Entity heading straight into The International 2022 group stage, Team Secret and Team Liquid’s road to TI11 will continue in the Last Chance Qualifiers, which will be held on LAN in Singapore starting October 8.
