DPC Season 2021-22 Spring Tour; Week 1 recap

The DPC Season 2021-22 Spring Tour began last week as five regions began league-play in hopes to land a spot at the Dota Major in Stockholm this May.

The second tour of the DPC Season 2021-22 has finally begun for five of the regions —Western Europe, Southeast Asia, China, North America, and South America. Due to the war in Ukraine, Valve has postponed the DPC for Eastern Europe indefinitely.

While the excitement of the first week is often due to the return of competitive play for players and fans alike, the remaining weeks tend to be where the hype comes in as teams start jockeying for the top positions in the ranks.

DPC WEU
After the match between Team Liquid and OG was postponed due to a bug, fans are hopeful that they will see the match later this week, although the schedule has not yet been released.

Either way, OG fans are in for a treat as the Dream Green boys will take taking on Team Secret and Syed "SumaiL" Hassan, Saturday, March 26 at 15:00 CET.

* note that Daylight Savings kicks in for Europe on Sunday March 27th.

DPC SEA

A solid (read undefeated in both of their series played) start for Polaris Esports is expected to continue their hype this week as they take on last season's SEA titans BOOM Esports. BOOM has had a bit of a rough start to the season, taking on a Default Loss due to a power outage at their house.

The match between these two will take place on Wednesday, March 23 at 11:00 CET.

DPC CN

The two current leaders of the Chinese region, EHOME, and PSG.LGD are poised to lock horns on Tuesday, March 22nd at 11:00 CET. Last season, PSG.LGD went undefeated (7:0 in series) to take first place and then took the title in the regional finals after a 3:1 victory over Royal Never Give Up

DPC NA

Evil Geniuses are 2:0 in series after the first week, sliding into the first position. A three-way tie for second between Quincy Crew, 4 Zoomers and TSM will be broken this week after QC takes on 4 Zoomers on Tuesday, March 22nd at 21:00 CET.

DPC SA

beastcoast is undefeated in series' kicking off the new season. Thunder Predator, Lava, and Infamous are all tied for 2nd place. However, there will be lots of action for those three teams this week as they attempt to gain a solid footing and lead over the others. Lava and Infamous will both play two series each and Thunder Predator will take on Lava on Friday, March 25th at 20:00 CET.

Spring Tour 2022

  • Regional Leagues total DPC points: 920
  • Major total DPC points: 2,700

Division I

Those teams in Division I will be fighting for a spot at the "first" Major of the competitive year, and a share of the 690 DPC points and $205,000. Only the top five teams from Division I will earn DPC points. The sixth-placed team will get to keep its spot in the league, while those finishing in the 7th/8th place will be relegated into Division II for the next Tour.

Division II

Division II has a total prize pool of $75,000 and no DPC points to offer, but those placing top two at the end of the Spring Tour will promote into Division I for the next Tour. The prize pool will be split between the top 6 teams, while the bottom two will be eliminated from the regional league and will have to go through open qualifiers for the next Tour.

Major

ESL One Stockholm Major will unfold May 12-22 where teams will fight for a share of the $500,000 prize pool and 3530 DPC points.
