Team Spirit has a mixed Russian-Ukrainian roster, and due to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, the team won’t be able to attend with its full roster at the Gamers Galaxy: Invitational Series Dubai 2022.
Ukrainian support player Miroslaw "Mira" Kolpakov was caught in Ukraine during war times and while Team Spirit states that he is “safe and he’s getting all necessary support”, Vladimir "RodjER" Nikogosian will step in and play with the team in Dubai.
Team Spirit’s carry player, Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk, who is also Ukrainian, will be playing with the team in Dubai.
According to an announcement made on Twitter, all prize money won by Team Spirit this week at Gamers Galaxy: Invitational Series Dubai 2022 will be donated to the International Red Cross Movement.
Team Spirit is seeded in Group A along with Nigma Galaxy, TSM FTX, Tundra Esports and Fnatic. The group stage matches are scheduled to commence on the 2nd of March at 09:00 UTC / 10:00 CET / 13:00 Dubai Time with Team Spirit pitted against Fnatic in Group A and with TSM FTX versus Tundra Esports from Group B.
Taking place from March 2nd to March 6th, Gamers Galaxy: Invitational Series Dubai 2022 will welcome ten of the best Dota 2 teams from around the world to compete on LAN in the Dubai Studio City for a share of the AED 1,000,000 (≃ $272,482) prize pool. This will mark the first ever high-tier Dota 2 tournament to be held in the MENA region.
However, the LAN competition will be played behind closed doors to ensure a safe environment for competitors, but broadcast live from Studio City Dubai on YouTube and Twitch.
Galaxy Racer has also arranged a variety of pub-stomp viewing parties across Dubai’s best gaming venues such as Que Club, Rails Billiards, Geek Station Abu Dhabi, DZZRT ESPORTS, Last Resort Gaming Cafe and Dubai Media City Courtyard.
