Evil Geniuses took down 4Zoomers 2-0 while Quincy Crew maintained their undefeated streak with a 2-1 win over Undying in Division I of the NA DPC League.
Evil Geniuses have had a rough start to the 2021-2022 DPC Winter Tour, losing unexpectedly to Black N Yellow and Wildcard Gaming. The team has been settling in after making roster changes, and had to make another adjustment to their season when they announced Arif “MSS” Anwar would be filling in as a stand-in for Egor "epileptick1d" Grigorenko for the rest of the season. Coming out of the break, EG’s game against 4Zoomers was a must win if they were to maintain a chance of making it to the first DPC Major of the year, and that’s just what they did.
EG showed no signs of rust as they took down 4Zoomers 2-0. The first game was a comfortable win for them in just over 35 minutes. Game 2 was a lot more even till the 29th minute, but after taking down four enemy heroes in a team fight while losing none themselves, they picked up the momentum and never looked back. The game took just over 50 minutes to finish, but EG were in control for the second half of the game. The NA juggernaut did not lose a single tier 3 tower throughout the series.
This is huge relief for Evil Geniuses, who could have seen their season’s journey come to an end had they lost this series. They currently stand third in the table with a score of 3-2, with games against the top two, Quincy Crew and Undying, yet to come.
Quincy Crew and Undying went up against each other after EG’s game, with both teams boasting a 4-0 score line going into the series. Only one would come out unscathed, and that turned out to be Quincy Crew, who won 2-1 to maintain their unbeaten record and claim the top stop in the table. Undying drop to second place.
The new fixtures for the last two weeks are yet to be announced, but Evil Geniuses are still to play both, Quincy Crew and Undying. If EG can find their form and find wins against them, we are in for one helluva showdown in Division I of the NA DPC League.
