Fans in dismay as SingSing retires from professional Dota

After failing to make it through both the European and the North American rounds of the open qualifiers of the Boston Major, Kaipi disbands, with Singsing retiring from professional Dota.

Weh 'SingSing' Yuen announced his retirement today on an interview with DotaBlast, after failing to qualify for the regional qualifiers of the Boston Major. The open qualifiers of the Boston Major saw a Kaipi, which was struggling in previous tournaments, but desperate to make it through to the closed qualifiers. They played the first round of the Open Qualifiers from the European region, but were immediately knocked out in their first game against Evil Corporation. They then decided to play the second round from the North American qualifier, and made it through to the finals, but lost in a Best of Three against Elements Pro Gaming. Soon afterwards, SingSing announced his retirement and the team disbanded.

But that’s the thing, right? Deserving is not a thing in competition. You earn it or you don’t.

SingSing shot to fame in the days of the early Dota 2 Beta as one of the most watched streamers with his troll style of Dota, unorthodox builds, and entertaining personality. He joined mouzsports in December of 2011, and proceeded to qualify for the second edition of the International, but was knocked out by Chinese overlords EHOME soon after. Shortly after the third International SingSing joined Kaipi, but was soon picked up by RattleSnake.int. Renaming themselves as Speed Gaming, they managed to win MLG Columbus against the daunting Team DK. He later joined Cloud9, which was the peak of his professional career, as he managed to secure fifth-sixth place in the fourth International. SingSing joined Kaipi in March of this year, after failing to do well with other teams, but he could not achieve a lot with the team as frequent roster changes and internal issues led to them failing to qualify for tournaments such as the Summit 6 and Royal Arena.

While some fans still wish that SingSing makes a comeback to professional Dota, imitating what he once did in the October of 2013, SingSing has mentioned that this time he is sure about his decision to retire and will now focus more of his time towards streaming, which is definitely a good news for his disheartened fans. You can catch SingSing's stream on his Twitch channel
