Two of SEA’s tier one invited teams have managed to reach the qualifier finals, while the European qualifiers have been dominated by the underdogs.

As expected, Fnatic and MVP.Phoenix have ruled the SEA qualifiers and reached the grand finals. But at the end of the last series played there will be only one who will secure the trip to New York this fall. The best-of-five series finals are scheduled to start tomorrow at 12:00 CEST.
This qualifiers round was Fnatic’s first appearance with their new roster and despite the fact that the new line-up is totally different than the TI5 one, they didn’t drop a single game so far. Not the same thing can be said about the Korean squad who defeated both First Departure and TnC with a 2-1 final score.
The Europe qualifiers featured a lot of the newly formed teams and it was a good occasion for all of them to calibrate their teamplay and test their communication. Unfortunately for them, all of the newly created stacks didn’t manage to even reach the semifinals. Kuro’s crew 5Jungs along with SingSing - 7kngMad new team Monkey Freedom Fighters and Goblak’s new 123 project, they all failed to go past the second round.
Alliance shared the same fate and got eliminated in the second round despite having back s4 and AdmiralBulldog.
Even though Natus Vincere were seeded as a tier one team and started the competition in the quarter finals they’ve been eliminated in the semifinals by Vega Squadron. While Na’Vi got their chance to play for the first time with PSM, Empire was forced to still play without their captain Resolut1on who is still in a vacation. Maybe that played an important factor in their loss versus Ninjas in Pyjamas, the second team that made it to the finals today.
Both Vega Squadron and Ninjas in Pyjamas are teams that haven’t touched up their roster at all during the recently closed shuffle period, despite failing to even qualify at The International 5. And it seems that their decision already pays off.
Taking place on 3rd - 4th October on the famous Madison Square Garden, ESL One New York LAN event is the first important competition after TI5. It will feature four directly invited teams and four squads resulted from the regional qualifiers.
