Na`Vi.Dendi: "Practice for Na`Vi was a disaster"

GosuGamers managed to grab an interview with Na`Vi's charismatic mid player, Danil 'Dendi' Ishutin at the DAC. In the interview, Dendi talks about Na`Vi's performance, morale, and the tournament in general.

Danil 'Dendi' Ishutin is one of the most famous faces of Dota, having played for Natus Vincere for most of his Dota 2 career. Dendi was one of the faces of Valve's Free to Play, a global star within Dota 2, and one of the most aggressive and skilled mid players to have ever graced the scene. Having been in three different Grand Finals of The International, he is easily one of the most accomplished veterans still plying their trade today.

First off, Dendi mentions that before the DAC, practice for Na`Vi coming into the tournament "was a disaster" and that he felt that Na`Vi "would not get past the qualifiers", but it was practice that "gave us four to five strategies that allowed us to get through the qualifiers". Dendi also mentions that morale is really important for Na`Vi, especially for himself, and he sees that "keeping your morale up is very important".

He moves on to talk about the relative importance of morale, skill, and communication in Dota - "Skill is very important, there are many other important points to watch... skill is like one out of ten important points (for success)." He moves on to mention how Dota is turning very serious, and it is a game of keeping up - "You should get psychologists, coaches and so on if you want to win, if you don't do it and others do it, you will lose to others."

He also recommends young players to not read forums - "You cannot make everyone like you even if you don't do anything bad," and "to play your own game and stick to what your teammates say". He also advised people on forums "to be nicer, it is not nice to blame and flame people and players, especially players who play bad in your opinion".
