i-League #2 Day Five - LGD and HGT advance to grand finals

LGD and HGT are the two grand finalists of i-League #2, after winning the UB and LB final respectively. LGD was the first to secure a spot with a 2-0 victory against HGT, but VG could not do the same as they were defeated with 2-1 and finished third in the tournament.

Only one match remains for the conclusion of the second season of i-League, and in the end, two Chinese participants managed to surpass the competition and reach the best-of-five grand final. The first one is LGD, who went through the Upper Bracket without dropping a single match despite the heavy competition. HyperGloryTeam, on the other hand, had to survive the Lower Bracket finals against ViCi Gaming in order to secure their spot. It should be noted that HGT also received a default victory in their match against Big God, the team that pulled out of the tournament.

The outcome of the grand final is rather difficult to predict, as the recent encounters between the two teams show no clear advantage for either side. However, LGD seem to have a slight edge after their victories in i-League, StarLadder XI and G-League 2014. It should also be reminded that HGT was not an original participant of the i-League LAN finals, and they were introduced to replace Virtus.pro. In any way the grand final will surely be an interesting match, and hopefully it will bring a happy conclusion to the troubled second season of i-League.

The best-of-five grand final is scheduled to take place on January 10th, at 9:00 CET. Live broadcasting of the games will be provided by BeyondTheSummit.
