The second season of AMD Premier League Season 2 has been announced. This season, the tournament will be closed for invites only in an unorthodox bubble format regional qualifiers.
After a successful run in season one, the AMD Premier League is back for its second season with $5,000 in prize pool.
The tournament will be split into two stages, the regional qualifiers and the main event. The regional qualifiers will now employ the unorthodox bubble format in which eight invited teams will be seeded according to votes by fans on their Facebook page. The regional qualifiers will be invite only and not open to all like the first season was.
Tournament format
Regional Qualifiers – this will be an eight-team bubble tournament. The seeding of the invited teams will be based on the fan votes accumulated during the designated period. There will be a total of eight different regional qualifiers, and the winner of each qualifier will advance into the main event. For easier understanding, please refer to the following illustration:
Main Event – Eight Asian teams will join the eight qualified teams on the main event. The invited teams and the exact format for this stage will be disclosed on a future time.
The last season of AMD Premier League ran from the 15th of April till the 15th of May. On the final day, only Zenith and TongFu were still standing. TongFu ended up winning Zenith in straight games to take home the $3,000 first prize while Zenith settled for second. Invasion-MUFC came up third and walked away with $500.
