The Defense group stage comes to an end

Dota 2 Joshua “ASWAY” Ouellette

The Defense group stage has come to an end. But there are still four tiebreakers to be played. The tiebreakers will be played on Thursday, starting at 17:00CET.

The top three teams from each Defense group will advance to the playoffs. The winners from each group will be placed into the upper bracket while the 2nd and 3rd placed teams will be placed into the lower bracket. All matches but the finals will be a best of three. The finals will be a best of five.

Tomorrow's tiebreaker between Na'Vi and Mousesports is an important match for both teams. The winner of this match will play in the upper bracket and the loser will be placed in the lower bracket. Team Empire, RoX.KIS and Keita Gaming all have a record of 2-6, meaning there is a three-way-tie. The tiebreakers that will be played on Thursday for these three teams will decide who takes the 3rd place and moves out of the group stage.

The playoff start date is still unknown, but it will most likely start some after DreamHack Summer, which will be taking place this weekend, June 15 to 17.

Alliance were able to top group C without too many problems. Both Evil Geniuses and Quantic Gaming were the only teams who managed to win a game versus Alliance. Fnatic, who took second in the last Defense, went three and five in their group and will not be competing in the playoffs.

Team Dignitas played their last game today versus Lions Pride. If Lions Pride wanted to have a chance at making it into the playoffs, they would of had to beat Team Dignitas 2-0. Lions Pride were only able to take one game off of Team Dignitas and have been eliminated from The Defense Team Dignitas, Team Liquid and Kaipi are tied for first with a record of 5-3. The date of the tiebreaker has not yet been announced but will probably take place after DreamHack Summer
