Nirvana.int & DDT through to next round

The first round of the Farm 4 Fame Playoffs was played on Tuesday night and all four teams provided the community with stellar performances in their respective matches. Unfortunately, only two emerged victorious.



The first match up was between the all German team LAN and one of the European powerhouses, DDT. Fans would have been pleased by LAN's attemps at using unusual strategies, even though it was to no avail. DDT swiftly took down the Germans in two consecutive games, winning their match 2-0. The first game saw a global strat from LAN versus the negative armour strat of DDT. Lanaya, with a solid performance from Loda, proved to be the winning factor as she completely disrubted LAN's momentum, often picking one or two heroes off after a decisive team battle. The second game ended even sooner as LAN's push strat was severely countered by DDT. In an attempt to conceal their push strat, LAN failed to ban the correct heroes which resulted in their opponents counter-picking them fairly easily.

The other matchup was most eagerly anticipated as it was between MYM and Nirvana.int, playing with their old roster despite recent friction. MYM were able to completely dominate the first game, with Maelk grabbing his infamous Chen and Lacoste getting his hands on Broodmother. Nirvana clearly lacked the early game strength they needed and were easily picked apart by Maelk and his zealots. The second game was fiercely contested and could have gone either way in the beginning. Nirvana.int started to creep ahead mid way through the game as they were able to win their team fights with three/four heroes against MYM's five while Kuroky's Medusa free farmed whichever lane he could find. Once Medusa and Panda had their core items, Nirvana were able to decimate their opponents, leaving the score at one a piece. The third game saw an extremely strong performance from Nirvana.int, Demon in particular with his Beastmaster. Some superb play from him and map dominance saw Nirvana.int cut, slowly but surely, deeper into MYM's defences. This, coupled with Fear and Merlini severely hampering Playmate at mid, saw Nirvana.int win the decisive match.

Tough luck Playmate. After such an impressive first match, what do you think went wrong?

-"I think the Dusa pick in 2nd screwed us up quite a bit and made everything go wrong. We kind of overlooked her because we thought she was nerfed. In last game I think BM and great vision from Nirvana.int shut us down."

Your next game is against the German team LAN. Any predictions?

-"They have their good days and bad days; just like everyone else. You win some, you lose some. Will just have to see tonight." (smiles)

GosuGamers also had the chance to sit down with hexOr and moods from LAN.

Obviously a very disappointing result for your team moods, where do you think it all went pear shaped?

-"Thing is, we started to ban for a different strategy in game one and got owned by some of DDT's bans. We switched to a global strategy, which we have been working on for the past week. Unfortunatly we weren't able to adapt to the hero pool and got out picked due to the negative armour strat used by DDT. In game two we tried a relatively new strat of ours, using it for the second time. We had used it first against competo and won in 20 minutes and they also had Pitlord. DDT crushed our lanes and we never got the chance to push. "

MYM are your next opponents, what do you think your chances are?

hexOr: "I think we'll win 2-0."
moods: "I Dont have a crystalball but we all believe that we can beat MYM. We will do a lot better then we did yesterday."
