GamesCom precoverage

As you may know, GamesCom in Cologne, Germany is coming up in just 2 days! Gosugamers will have two of its's team members, Zeyall and ereskigal, there to cover it, and get interviews. It looks like a very interesting tournament, with at least a $15,000 prize pool.

GamesCom is held from August 19-23, and has a various number of events, including a DotA tournament. The schedule for the DotA tournament can be found below (in the Spoiler).

GosuGamers.net sat down with Coverage organizer Rinoa to get some questions answered:

GG.net: How is the coverage of the GamesCom tournament going?

Rinoa: The coverage is going well so far, we have 4 pre-interviews up and some of the tournament information. Me and Sunie also made a twitter so people can follow us for quick updates at http://www.twitter.com/RinoaSunie and the tournament coverage portal is http://web.dota-allstars.com/tournament!


GG.net: And about the participating teams, do you know them?

Rinoa:There are 7 confirmed teams so far; Ravens, dmZ, Fnatic, UCP, MCiTY, Razer (Ks.Int) and Xeo Divine. The 8th spot isn't confirmed yet because the admins are waiting to hear from DTS, if DTS can't go then I believe it will be neXt Please!


GG.net: Since we got to know about the schedule now, can you provide some information about streams and casts?

Rinoa: Well obviously, every match is going to be streamed since there is only going to be one match at a time. As you can see on the dota-allstars site there will be a live video stream of the event and each match will be streamed on WaaaghTV (WTV).


GG.net: Any feelings about the event? Are you excited?
Rinoa: I've been to like 5 DotA events already so it's nothing new to me, I'll be accompanied by Michelle aka Sunie who will be covering the event with me.


The four premade Interviews are with Kebap, eQuiNOX, KuroKy and Esco.

GosuGamers were also able to ask Marcou (the head administrator of the upcoming) event some questions.

GG.net: When will you arrive at Germany? Will you prepare anything special?

EG|Marcou I will be arriving in Germany on Wednesday morning. Neha and Michelle will be arriving Tuesday morning. I don't have anything extremely special planned. I just want to see the return of a quality dota event.


GG.net: Are you excited about the event? You surely are experienced in hosting offline-events, but are you still excited?

EG|Marcou I'm very excited :) This has been a challenging and unique experience for two main reasons: (1) I am working with teams in the European community who I do not know as well and (2) I am working with a game publisher, riot games, that really understands the nature of online communities. I hope this is a good first step to reigning interest in the competitive community worldwide.


GG.net: Do you want to say something about the fact that the coverage was pretty weak in the first days, and even top teams that "should play" didn't know of the event (e.g. Visa problems etc)?

EG|Marcou There were delays in the formal announcement of the event as well as the release of the event site, which is up now at http://web.dota-allstars.com/tournament. It was out of my control and did make my job more difficult, but I think it will still be a good event with better to follow.
I wish that the players could have been given more notice as well. I understand the inconvenience of a late announcement, but I look on the positive side and did the best with what i could control.



Also fnatic.DotA released their lineup for the GamesCom, they will play with Stoica "Freezer" Florin.
