ESL have revealed details pertaining to the European and North American qualifiers for this year's edition of ESL One: Cologne.
ESL have revealed details regarding the European and North American open and closed regional qualifiers for ESL One: Cologne 2017. Closer to the end of April all four open qualifiers will commence, offering an unlimited bracket capacity. Teams from across the world are given the chance to advance to the closed qualifier, taking place on May 20th for North America and May 21st for Europe. The two teams to surpass all opponents in the European open qualifier will join six invited teams in the closed qualifier in a bid to secure one of two spots at the LAN finals. As for the North American open qualifier, the qualified two teams will join four invited teams, two of which will receive automatic advancement to the semi-finals of the closed qualifier. The European closed qualifier will offer two slots at the LAN finals, whilst the North American closed qualifier will offer but a single one.
Formatting for the open qualifiers will see single-elimination, best-of-one matches up until the decider matches, that will take on a single-elimination, best-of-three format. The closed qualifier will exclusively see single-elimination, best-of-three matches.
