
Hellcase announce the Hellcase Cup Series, featuring a total of $40,000 in prize pool money.
Hellcase have announced the Hellcase Cup Series, four $10,000 prize pool cups that will serve indirectly as qualifiers for WCA 2017. Said tournaments will be taking place on a monthly basis from April 2017 to July 2017. Participation in the tournament is open for all teams interested via an open qualifier. A total of three will be available over the course of a single month, where the top teams automatically advances to the closed qualifier of the cup, whilst teams placed 2nd qualify for Wild Card matches.
Formatting for the open qualifier will see best-of-one, single elimination matches, whereas the Wild Card matches will see three teams from the open qualifiers face off in a round robin, best-of-one format. Only one team from the Wild Card matches will qualify for the closed qualifier. The closed qualifier will see four direct invitees, three teams qualified from the open qualifier and a single team from the Wild Card matches. Matches will be best-of-three, single elimination, with the top two teams advancing to the main stage of cup. The main stage of the Hellcase Cup Series will feature six invited teams and two teams from the closed qualifier. The teams will be split into two groups of four, featuring a round robin format. The top two teams from each group advance to the final stage of the tournament, which will see a single-elimination, best-of-three format.
Below is the prize pool distribution for the $10,000 prize pool cups:
1st place - $6,000 + Slot at Main Stage WCA European Qualifiers
2nd place - $2,500
3rd place - $1,000
4th place - $500
