Space Soldiers topped the Swedes of Epsilon 2-0 (16:11 on Cache, 16:5 on Cobblestone) to claim the $12,000 grand prize and their first international LAN victory.
Unlike bigger tournaments, the semifinals and the grandfinal at ASUS ROG Summer were on the same day, so Space Soldiers were fresh from their respective semifinals. Space Soldiers took on the Frenchmen (and one Turk) of Millenium, which SS win the series 2-0 in two close, double-digit maps.
The other semifinal was between the Finns of ENCE and the Swedes of Epsilon. Epsilon mounted a huge comeback on Nuke after going down 3-12 on their T side, eventually winning the map 16-14. Dust2 was the second map, and the Finns managed to keep themselves in the series, winning in overtime 22-20. Epsilon clinched the series 2-1 after winning Cobblestone 16-12.
The final was not nearly as close as either of the two semifinals, with Space Soldiers putting up a dominant display on Epsilon’s pick Cache, and then destroying them on Cobblestone, the Turks’ map pick. SS walk away from the tournament with their first international LAN title and $12,000, Epsilon leaves with $7,000, ENCE and Millenium with $3,000, and the rest with nothing.
