OpTic Gaming take Champion's title at Americas Minor Championship

OpTic Gaming have successfully overcome Tempo Storm in the Grand Finals of the Americas Minor Championship, securing $30,000 and a spot in the main qualifier for ESL One: Cologne 2016.?

In quick succession, OpTic Gaming were able to best Tempo Storm in two maps out of three at the Grand Finals of the Americas Minor Championship. Both teams have now set their sights on the ESL One: Cologne 2016 major tournament, as all qualifiers have concluded and all participants are decided.

Map #1 - de_Dust2
A level performance was seen coming from both teams upon kick off. No team was leading in particular as time passed by, with both teams desperately trying to supersede one another. Tempo Storm demonstrated a decent T side during the first half, securing eight rounds to Tempo Storm's seven. After transitioning onto the CT side, Tempo Storm were able to get a grip on the match. Things were not working out for the Americans, resulting in a round deficit. OpTic attempted to raid the bomb sites, however the Brazilians had them on lock, closing out the first map at a close 16:13.

Map #2 - de_Train
The American roster started on the T side of Train, whereby the team showed a decent performance. Whilst no particularly amazing plays were to be seen, both teams were able to play equally well, leading to an 8:7 finish in favour of Tempo Storm. OpTic were aware of what was at stake and it was apparent from their gameplay. They were successfully preventing the Terrorists from securing rounds. All efforts were exhausted and in an unfortunate line of events for the Brazilians it was impossible for them to mount a resurgence, falling to the American team. OpTic take away the map 16:13.

Map #3 - de_Nuke
The final and perhaps most interesting of maps to be played. This map was the definition of a wild card, as neither team seemed particularly prepared for it. Previously a notoriously CT sided map, Nuke posed some interesting results that perhaps confirmed the same rule for the renewed version of it. Tempo Storm start off on the CT side, gradually building a round lead against their opponent. At the end of the first half both teams go pretty much equal with the score slightly tilted towards Tempo Storm at 8:7. OpTic jump over to the CT side and show a very respectable performance. It proved difficult for the Brazilians to ply out the T side of the map, culminating in a 16:12 finish for the Americans, landing them the Champions title, as well as a crisp $30,000 pocket.
