Over the course of last four days, GameShow Studios in Vilnius played a host for the Global Esports Cup LAN finals. Eight teams were gathered in Lithuania, to fight for the grand prize of $80,000.

The show started with the group stages, where surprisinly Team Dignitas topped their group over Team EnVyUs, Counter Logic Gaming and FlipSid3 Tactics. This pushed the Danish team directly into the semi finals, while Team EnVyUs had to grind their way through the quarter final match. The second group saw no surprise, as Astralis easily took the first place, leaving G2 Esports behind on the second place. However, the part of community might say that Cloud9 showed a bit dissapointing result here, placing only third in this group, but we must admit to G2 Esports that they definitely showed a much better performance than a North American team during their stay in Vilnius.

In the playoffs we saw Team Dignitas and Astralis, patiently sitting at the semi finals and waiting for their opponents, while second and third placed teams of the group stage had to battle it out through the quarter final matches. In a best of three series, Counter Logic Gaming managed to defeat G2 Esports with 2-1 and to send them packing home. In the second quarter final match, Team EnVyUs knocked off Cloud9 with 2-0, and we were about to see the real classico between the Danish team, Astralis and the French team, EnVyUs.

Team Dignitas continued their very strong performance in the semi finals, by crushing Counter Logic Down with 2-0 and qualying for the grand finals. On the other side, we saw a very interesting battle between Astralis and Team EnVyUs, where the French guys took 2-1 victory to continue the semi finals curse of the Danish team.

Finally, the last day of Global Esports Cup brought to us third place decider and the grand finals. In the third place decider Astralis stomped their North American opponents, Counter Logic Gaming, leaving them clueless. The best description of this match is a tweet of one of the North American players, where he said that it looks like they got into this match without their mouses. The final duel featured a best of five series, where Dignitas was finally stopped. Their great performance throughout the whole tournament, without losing a single map has come to an end. Team EnVyUs have showed once again why they were named as the main favourite of this tournament, defeating Dignitas 3-0 and taking the title to their home.
