Fnatic wins Gfinity Spring Masters #2

Fnatic are the champions of the second edition of Gfinity Spring, defeating Virtus.pro 3-0 for the grand prize of $25,000.

The grand finals of Gfinity Spring #2 brought to us a duel between the two power houses of CS:GO, Fnatic and Virtus.pro. Fnatic managed to overcome Titan in the semi finals with a score of 2-1, while VP took down Natus Vincere 2-0 with both maps going into overtime.

The veto process went in the following way: Fnatic removed de_train, while VP banned de_inferno. The first pick for Fnatic was de_cobblestone, and VP decided to go with de_cache. In the second picking phase the Swedes chose de_dust2, while VP picked de_mirage. This left de_overpass as the last map in the pool which will be played as the deciding one if needed.

Showing that de_cobblestone is actually a really strong map for them, Fnatic stomped their way through winning 10 consecutive rounds. Virtus.pro were close to winning some of these rounds, but the Fnatic players were better in the clutch situations which made a huge difference in the score. Once VP managed to get themselves on the board with the first round, they quickly followed with 3 more which made it four in a row for 10-4. The last round of the half went to Fnatic for 11-4. The second half was opened really nice by VP as they managed to find 2 quick frags in the pistol round, but even with the player disadvantage Fnatic found their way to win the round and make it 12-5. However, the Poles fought back winning the next force buy round and keeping themselves in this game. However, an insane round where both teams traded kills and it all fell dowmn to Flusha and Snax, the Swedish player found a kill on Snax 2 seconds before the time ran out and VP's economy was once again destroyed. This round shook them a lot and they couldn't get back on the track, so de_cobblestone went to Fnatic with 16-10.

The next map was de_cache, Virtus.pro's pick. Fnatic once again had an advantage starting on the more favored CT side. We saw almost a replicate of de_cobblestone where Fnatic were just shutting down any of VP's effort on getting themselves a T side round. Even when it was so close for them, olofmeister was going huge, clutching unwinnable situations and still preventing VP to get themselves on board. Finally, VP started getting the rounds on T side at the end of this half where they got three consecutive rounds for 12-3. The pistol round started well for the Poles as they picked up 2 quick kills, but Fnatic showed once again that they are perfectly fine working with a man deficit and they took this round for 13-3. Virtus.pro was able to finally pick up some rounds as they won the next round and got some money to work with, but they fall apart once Fnatic got themselves the 14th round in 2v5 situation. The end score of this map was 16-9.

Virtus.pro needed three maps to finally show what they are capable of doing over at T side. Dust2 started by a dominant performance of the Polish players who made a quick lead of the six rounds. Fnatic was constantly pushed back and the Swedish players had no money to work with. However, due to the fact that JW managed to save AWP in a few rounds in a row, Fnatic finally started picking rounds and the first half was finished 8-7 for VP. The second half started well for VP as they picked up the pistol round and quickly got themselves on 11-7, but that's when Fnatic started getting themselves back into this game. In the end, both teams were trading rounds back and forth where eventually we could see an overtime. VP lost their CT side of OT 2-1, and Fnatic quickly punished this by winning 2 consecutive rounds on their CT side for the final 19-16.
