Ninjas in Pyjamas makes it through to the finals of a major for the fourth consecutive time. The will be waiting there for the winner of Na'Vi and Team LDLC match.
After a lot of drama caused by last night's match between Team LDLC and Fnatic, a Day 3 of DreamHack Winter brought us the entertainment we were seeking for. The first semi final match featured a rematch of the IEM Katowice grand finals, where the two titans clashed for the finals spot.
The maps vetoing went very interesting. As expected NiP decided to ban off de_mirage, while VP removed de_dust2. The first map which was supposed to be played was de_nuke with VP choosing the CT side. The second map, which was Virtus.pro pick, was de_cache with NiP starting as Counter-Terrorists. And, finally the deciding map, if needed, was chosen to be de_inferno.
Virtus.pro opened a match on de_nuke in a great fashion, making an early lead of 7-0 and completely shutting down NiP in any aspects. At the point where it was looking like the game will flip out of NiP's hands, friberg came huge making four kills and bringing round to NiP hands. The first half went to VP with the score of 12-3. The Polish side made it quickly to 15-7 and they were about to score a first point in this semi final's duel. Although, NiP was forced to get a semi buy they still managed to resist to Polish artilery and to bring this map into the over time. Virtus.pro opened OT with 2-1 lead and it was just matter of pure exectuion on the CT side for them to get the win. However, NiP changed the pace of their T side and decided to rush through the field and take B bomb side quickly, which brough them 2 quick rounds. VP had to struggle with a half buy in the last round of the overtime to get it into the second overtime. NiP changed the tactic and rushed to the A site and got completely shutted down. In the second overtime, the Swedes just won all three rounds at T side and VP had a hard task to make it even again. They won two rounds and in the third one NiP closed this map with 22-20.Â
The second map, de_cache, showed a totally different VP's face. They were so confident at T side, opening the match with the knife kill by pasha. The Polish team had at one point 8-1 lead at the less favored T side of this map. But, NiP managed to get at least some rounds on their record before the half time, making it 5-10. The second half saw NiP causing a little upset, but not enough to eliminate VP from the tournament, 16-9.
On de_inferno VP showed once again how good they are with the pistols. Unfortunately for them, that is the only thing they showed on T side in the first half. After the round one they got completely shutted down hitting in the brick wall. NiP was playing an amazing game to make it to 14-1. The second pistol round again went to VP, however they couldnt pull out one of the best comebacks ever and they got eliminated by the score of 16-8.
