Group A of Dreamhack Stockholm is over, with LDLC and Titan topping the group and moving onto the playoffs. NiP and Team Alternate have been eliminated from the tournament.
The $30,000 tournament kicked off with NiP, one of the clear favorites of the group defeating the German Team Alternate in a dominant 16-8 scoreline. The next match was between the newly organized French teams Titan eSports and Team LDLC, where LDLC came up on top with a 16-12 victory over Titan.
LDLC then proceeded to play NiP, where the Swedish team got completely wrecked on de_inferno in a 16-3 scoreline. Team Alternate, the only team to qualify through the online qualifiers, was the first to be eliminated from the tournament after a close 16-12 defeat against Titan.
The final match of the group was between NiP and Titan to determine which team would come in second, and which team would be eliminated. The match started with NiP on the CT side of de_dust2 taking the pistol round and five rounds after it, making the score 6-0. When Titan finally won a round, they were also able to string together eight rounds in a row before NiP finally picked up one, ending the first half 8-7 in favour of Titan.
NiP also took the second pistol round, with widely criticized played Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson getting an impressive triple kill. Titan attempted to force buy after their pistol round loss, but with no success as NiP took the lead 10-8.
Titan was later able to pick up their first buy round as well as five rounds afterwards, taking the lead again with a 13-10 scoreline. With the help of Richard "Xizt" Landström getting two back-to-back aces, NiP were able to bring the score 12-13.
On the 26th round, Titan decided to force buy instead of ecoing, this time with great success. The French team was able to make it match point 15-12 after crushing force buy win against NiP. NiP was able to pick up one final round against Titan making the score 15-13.
The final round ended with Kenny "kennyS" Schrub caught in a difficult 1 v 2 situation at bombsite A in cubby. After picking off Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg on catwalk with his AWP, he was able to land an insane flick shot against Adam "friberg" Friberg who was right above him, ending the match 16-13 and eliminating NiP from the entire tournament.
LDLC and Titan will now advance to the playoffs, where they will battle the top two teams of Group B for a grand prize of $10,000.
