A good move, according to the reigning champion - if they would add one map veto for each player.
The announcement of adding Secret Valley came as a lightning out of a clear sky, in a press release from the WCG administration. Most of the players GosuGamers have been in contact with sees negatively on this, while Creolophus, WCG 2007 champion thinks it's a good move, should they use a veto system.
- I think adding Secret Valley is a good move if they add one veto for each player. Last World Cyber Games you had to play your best and worst map, which could often lead to a 1-1 score and then the third map was chosen between the three remaining maps. It would just be a lot more fair if vetoes were used, says Creolophus.
- Adding Secret Valley is maybe a slight counter for the Human and Night Elf dominance of other WCG events, but the new patch might change that a bit already, says Creolophus.
FuRy, Undead player, says that this is very nice for Orc and sarcastically adds that it must be because Undeads won so many WCG titles. [No Undead has ever won World Cyber Games, ed. note]
- Like they needed more help versus Undead anyway, says FuRy.
Satiini is on the same roll, saying it is neither fair nor balanced.
- Instead they could have added a new map outside the Blizzard map pool, that would make the game much more interesting and fun, he says and smiles.
No information has been released yet whether World Cyber Games 2008 will include map vetoing. Along with the map updates a set of rules have been added, such as maximum of three participants per nationality and runner-up from national final automatically taking the winner's spot should he or she be sick or any other unforeseen event.
