GosuGamers caught up with Sasha "ALF" Yatsenko a couple of hours before the grand finals, and had the following to say:
You surprised many when taking down Ret's well-known Terran versus Zerg in the semi finals. What would you say were the keys to victory in the games?
- My toughest opponent was Ret, and as many, I also thought that I'd lose. I hadn't much practice coming into it. Just before GosuCup finals I have played few days on iccup from D to C rank. Dunno what the keys to victory were, must be good concentration... I didn`t think about victory (especialy after 1st game^^), just wanted to show a good game, maybe it also helped me to win.
How have you prepared for Yayba? How well do you stand against him?
- Hmmm, hard to tell. As for now I haven't prepared. Last two days I haven't had time to play SC at all bacause of holidays... Hope to play some ZvP's today. Anyway I`ll try to do my best ;)
Do you find Zerg mirror match-ups tiresome and boring?
- No way, I`m loving it. It's the most dynamic and fast match-up, and these are two things I'm loving the most in SC.
You have risen in ranks and is regarded by many a very strong player nowadays, any reason for your skyrocket career?
- I really don't know the reason. I had no training from summer (except one January week, when i got university holidays, and few ZvP's before the iCCup ClanLeague game against IefNaij). I have just visited clanwars each week... Also most of my victories were in ZvZ, and this match-up don't need much practise, imho -.-
You have a chance to send a greeting to your opponent for tonight, is there anything you want to say?
- Lets make a show ;) and thanks for everyone who are upholding me. I hope everyone will enjoy the finals, thank you!
