Yankee League, the American based clan league

Yankee League, the American based clan league headed by Xeris, is now halfway through season three. It holds clans like LighT, sMi and Lzuruha among others. GosuGamers now brings you weekly updates on yet another league.

The rules are simple: sixty percent of your roster has to be from the US, and you can use at most two players from outside the US in each clan war. It uses the old proleague format, three predetermined 1v1 matches and one predetermined 2v2 match, and an ace match to settle a tie if it's needed. Twelve weeks, one clan war a week. Four clans go to play offs. One winner. This is the Yankee League in short.

Right now there are six teams taking part in the league, as SouL dropped out. So there is room for more teams to take part, and if you are an American based team contact Xeris if your team is up to the challenge.

GosuGamers caught up with Xeris, head admin over the Yankee League and manager of the leading clan LighT, a natural interview victim. He says there has been a lot of difficulties this season; the site BWUSA.org got hacked, which caused major issues, and admins having real lives made it harder to fix them. Consistent casting from the matches has also been a problem, and they are looking for admins who can shoutcast the league. However, both problems are being worked on and should be fixed in the future, so look forward to both shoutcasting and videostreaming if things start working as they should.

Xeris also commented on the issues of both being an admin for the league and a team leader. "There is controversy whenever I make any kind of admin decisions, but it's to be expected." However, the rules have been written to be as clear as possible, to prevent any possible issues with admins and to reduce the amount of decisions necessary.

The leader of NrG, NeverExpo, says the league works great, and says the only thing lacking is in terms of tough competition. There simply are "not enough 'american-based' teams anymore". The old team [Media] and returned 88) are strikingly absent.

After half a season's play, the standings are as you can see. LighT has a tight lead over Lzuruha with one more win, but on the same amount of points. This comes from LighT dispatching of Lzuruha in the week 5 games with a 3-2 score. According to the schedule they will face off again in week 12, and that looks set to be an interesting match

In the following weeks GosuGamers will bring you weekly updates on this league, together with the other major clan leagues.
