Playoffs everywhere in the WGTCL

December 7th is truly a busy day for StarCraft clans, with the BWCL kicking off and the playoffs for division 1, 2a and 2b in the WGTCL starting, all on the same day.

Starting from this season there will be playoffs not only in division 1, but also in division 2a and 2b. The clan who placed first in the division automatically advances into div 1, while the second and third place clans have to duke it out for the remaining spot.

The maps that will be used are Othello for the 1v1 matches and Python for the 2v2 matches in division 2a and 2b. Division 1 gets to play on Peaks of Baekdu for the 1v1 matches and Andromeda in the 2v2. All matches will be played tonight, Sunday 7th December at 7 pm CET.

Division 2a

Nerds at Work cruised through this division, going undefeated and easily claiming the #1 spot. The Polish clan Zajebiscie Zjebany Zespol and the Ukrainian clan SaintS are actually tied at 31 points, making them share the second and third spot. Predictions on the WGTour website lean towards ZZZ being victorious in the coming battle, although the battle will be very close. While losing a key player in Dimaga to RoX might have hurt the team, these Ukrainians are still not to be taken lightly. ZZZ will probably be feeling confindent, as they managed to defeat St) earlier in the season by 3-2.

Division 2b

Another Swedish team takes the first place in this division, Team BW- to be precise, just narrowly squeezing past n!faculty and ]DK[ by a single point. Faculty are currently in very good shape, having claimed the second place in the BWCL and now going through the division with only two losses to their name. In addition, they handily defeated ]DK[ 4-1 earlier this season, which suggests that they will be the stronger team come the match. The Czech clan will be hungry for revenge however, so should faculty let their guard down they will pay for it dearly.

Division 1

It comes as no great surprise to see MeetYourMakers crowning the board, considering their beastly play in all leagues this season. While they are resting, the battle between Los Reyes del Mambo and Templars of Twilight will take place. None of these two teams should need an introduction, as they are both top teams. ToT went through the season with only a loss against MYM and have recently been reinforced to boot. The new ToT members, AeriALs, Naugrim and Shad, will not be allowed to play this time, as they were added too late.

LRM lost their previous game against ToT 1-4 and have taken a few losses against other teams as well, but with the kind of lineup they are able to field, they are no pushovers. Two players who will be absent for LRM are Fenix, who is banned for account sharing, and Castro, who was added too late. Predictions point to a ToT victory, but the results will only be certain after the match has been played.
