The Match before the Finals

OGN surprised many last week by defeating STX SouL, which some considered an upset. OGN had no one in particular in their lineup that was well known for their accomplishments, but they had still pulled an astonishing 4 - 1 victory over the 4th overall STX SouL.

Now this week they go up against 2nd overall, SKT T1. Before the second half of the season, SKT T1 sat in a quite comfortable position score wise, and like STX SouL they played consistently throughout the remainder of the season, but dropped one match more than in the first half. However they were still able to retain the 2nd position with the amount of points they had gathered. All three teams, SouL, T1, and Sparkyz, have the same record, the only difference being their individual game scores.

SKT T1 in the Second Half

SKT T1 finished the second half of the season in a rather mediocre fashion, ending up with a 26-23 record in matches. However, they had clinched a playoff spot even after their 3rd last game of the season. Before going on their two game losing streak, SKT T1 had a record of 14-6 and had enough points that they had pretty much guaranteed a place in the playoffs.

It seems improbable that SKT T1 started slacking after their 3rd last game. After all, in the ProLeague many things can happen, for example Lecaf OZ who had been 12-4 at one point in the league and took a quick nose dive losing 4 games in a row and finished 13-9 at the end of the season.

The Upcoming Fight

So, what kind of a team will SKT T1 likely arrange to bring home this game? They have quite a few names to choose from. BeSt, the kid who's torn through every protoss known to man and managed to reach the OSL finals where he then lost to July. Canata should prove a formidable adversary to the Terran heavy force OGN fielded last game. Bisu, Midas, the Rumble/Bul_T team, this is a heavy hitting team and no mistake. Perhaps they'll even pull out a brand new face like STX did? In any event, OGN will have their hands full, this much is certain.

OGN's lineup will most likely remain rather similar to the one we saw last week, although Luxury will surely make an entrance this time around, perhaps Chalrenge as well. It will be a matter of putting the right race in front of the right enemy, since although the SKT T1 stars are competent in any matchup, they tend to really excel at a single on. If OGN show the same determination and skill as they did last week against STX, and don't do silly things like place a protoss in front of BeSt, SKT T1 may well be in for a nasty surprise.
