GOMTV Tournament a Success

Last night Nick "Tasteless" Plott cast the next English tournament from GOMTV. The games were intense and the winner really deserves his title.

Since early this year Tasteless has been in Korea working for Arirang TV and GOM casting WarCraft 3 and StarCraft: Brood War. First he did the GOMTV Star Invitational which was casted into 180 countries around the world via the internet. It was a huge success, the English website got over 1 million individual hits during the tournament. Last night they continued that success with the Intel Sambo Classic.

The Maestro Conducts No More

Only four players were invited to this tournament, all of them being top ten KeSPA. Clearly it was to be a very exciting set of game with Savior going up against Terran Sensation Flash and Stork facing another great Terran Mind. These four are some of the best players in Korea right now and they had to fight hard to prove it.

Number 2 ranked and the number one Protoss Stork came to the table ready to fight his opponent in a all out battle. He lost the first game after some terrible attack decisions and over expanding. Stork took the next game but was unable to seal the deal with a third win, Mind advanced with a close 2-1 victory.

Savior a.k.a. The Maestro, at one time the best Zerg out there not to mention the best player in the world. But those days seem to be fading as his KeSPA ranking falls slowly and his skill along with it. He lost last night to the young Terran Flash and let him advance to finals with ease in a 2-0 victory.

Mind versus Flash

The two Terrans came into the finals ready to fight and fight they did. The games went well for Mind at first, he was able to take out Flash for 1-0 lead. Unfortunately he was unable to continue that lead for very long and lost the next 3 games to his opponent. Flash once again proved that he is the best Terran right now.

The Sambo-Intel Classic will continue for the next 5 months, bringing some of the best players from Korea to your computer screen. This time around Flash proved that he deserves to advance to the next round as he has done before. Stork took another heavy loss under his belt but hopefully will continue on. The Maestro may have conducted his last win for the time being.
