An Interview with Jaedong!

Jaedong is the current winner of the MSL tournament. Once again Korea fing80 has provided us with a translation of his winners interview!

- Do you have anything to say after winning MSL?
I never thought I would win even when I started at the beginning with 32 players. I think I won because I did my best in every game without looking too far ahead. I still can't believe that I won MSL. I'll leave this win today and come back even stronger on the next season. I won't get too comfortable here; I will push myself to increase my skills.!9b4508a783017c776bfbf3e64a49aa39b419dbcf1d37ca0b207789a028.jpg

- When did you start practicing for the finals?
I started a week ago. I don't like today's games compared to my hours of practice games. I practiced so much but it didn't go well for the first match.
I practiced about the same as the last final. Protoss players in my team helped me a lot as well as players from other teams. Stork helped me a lot especially. I would like to say thank you to everyone.

-Did you suffer in such a intense schedule?
I couldn't get any rest recently because of my schedule. I lacked sleep too. In this condition, I ran out of energy preparing for the final. I couldn't sleep last night. I didn't feel very well in the morning either.

-There are many players who win after losing their first game by winning the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
That point amazes me too. Everyone prepares the most for the first game but they often lose the first match. When you lose the first, you get anxious and get angry at yourself. However, first loss becomes a good lesson. After losing once, you get stretched enough and have cleaner play management.

-How did you feel after losing the first match today?
After losing the first game, I thought I'll get a fresh view from the beginning. My manager and coach always comforted me and that created a good atmosphere. I was able to play calmly after losing the first match.

-There were a lot of underdog wins in a difficult situation.
I thought I would win after claiming the 2nd match. I was confident in the 3rd as well but it didn't go well. My opponent's units were aggressive, so I watched for an opportunity.

-You look like you might be the next "Bon Jwa"
I think I'm still far from that. There were many mistakes in today's games. I'll think about it after about 2 more wins.

(Note: Recently, "Bon Jwa" is a very popular word in Korea. It means a player of the highest position. I think its a little bit the same as "Gosu". But, Gosu can be any person. "Bon Jwa" is the best player of the time. i.e.- Boxer)

-Any goal as a pro gamer
Most of pro gamers, if you ask, respect Slayer Boxer. I'll try my best to become a respected player, so the next generation will remember my name. In order to achieve that, it is important to win but there are many other things to be prepared such as a good psychological state of mind. Many components should be included to become a good example for e-sports. Passion, endurance, and many others should be there. I'm still short by a lot but I'm working hard on it.

-Anything you want to do the most at this point?
I want to get rested for a whole day. I want to sleep too. I want to beat any difficult opponent or any player who is winning. There is not a difficult opponent yet. Recently I lost to Young Ho Lee(Flash) from KTF because he has many different styles. I don't think I have to make him as my rival since we'll see each other often. If we play many times, the rivalry will set itself up.
I'll try my best to become a respected player, so the next generation will remember my name.
-Korea Jaedong on his goals.

-Who did you think about after you won?
The last game that I won left me with a sense of confusion. I realized that I won after i came out of the booth and heard the cheering crowd. I blanked out after winning so there isn't any particular person that came into my mind.

-Any resolutions for the future?
I think a pro gamer should develop continuously. I try not to waste time and practice constantly. I think I'm harvesting those inputs. Doing as well as I did this year is my goal for the next year. I won't be lazy.

-Any words to your fans
The final was held in Busan but there were many people who came from Seoul. I appreciate their support. I really thank fans who come to my games every time. I will try my best to show them some good games. I started 2008 with a win. It feels like I've done a great job on my first one. After re-energizing myself, I will come back even stronger.

- The e-sports award isn't far from today. Any desire to win that award?
Of course I have some desire to win.

Words from the Champ!
